So, I have a 2015 SHO and the other day the mytouch froze up. Eventually ended up shutting off the car and then turned the accessories back on. Then I got a screen saying that it was performing scheduled maintenance or something to that effect. Then it came back and has been fine ever since. Has anyone else seen something like this. Just wondering what it was doing.

You have Sync 2 which is based on Windows CE. That "performing scheduled maintenance" thing is basically just a reboot. And maybe a CHKDHK.

In other words, it crashed. In "regular" windows terminology, it was the BSOD - Blue Screen of Death. But with Windows CE they hide all that stuff.

There is a way to force a reboot on next key-cycle by putting a certain program on a USB stick, inserting it, waiting for the system to read it, and then next time you start the car, it'll force a reboot. I used this a few times when things were wonky - eventually it worked it self out.

Ok, interesting, thanks that is good information.

And by the way, sometimes, if the system is acting a little "funny" maybe with your phone, or something else, the reboot helped. I went through a phase where the Sirius Travel-Link wasn't working, and rebooted it a bunch of times, and eventually it righted itself. Not sure if it was the rebooting, or something else, but it's worth a shot.

I kept a spare USB stick in the car with the delayed reboot app on it :)

I'm not sure what triggered mine to reboot. I did have the phone paired at the time. I also had a zune plugged into the USB and it always took a long time to index all of the music. I got rid of that and put some music on an SSD. See what happens I guess.

This is one of the reasons I held out for a 2016 on the re-lease. Sync 3.

Seems to be much more stable.

I would have liked Sync 3 but I got a really good deal on my 2015. Guess I can deal with a reboot now and then.

yeah, I got used to it in my 2013 - in some ways, wish I still had it. The 2013 had a different setup for the key fob - couldn't go anywhere without it - 2016, it seems I can drive the car away as long as it's running. A lot of give-and-takes between my 2013 and 2016.

My 2013 will let me go quite a distance without the fob. My keys typically hang about 25 feet from the car. A couple of weeks ago I hopped in the car and drove down the street before I realized I had left the fob hanging on the key rack. I only knew because the "no key detected" message came up. Glad it didn't shut down :)

I was unaware that the "performing scheduled maintenance" was just a reboot. I thought it was updating maps, etc. I guess not?

My 2013 was manufactured early in 2012 - I think March. Probably one of the first 2013 SHO's off the line. One time, I was washing the car. I started it, drove it away about twenty feet (to get out of the mud I created on the lawn), and left it running. Went back into the garage, left the key fob there, got back in, went to put it in drive, and the horn started beeping like I was trying to steal it. And, the shifter interlock wouldn't release. Also, if I remote started it, and didn't hit the start button (with my foot on the brake) and tried to shift out of Park, it would shutdown the engine. My 2016 doesn't do that shutdown thing, it just refuses to allow me to shift out of Park until I hit the start button.

The "performing scheduled maintenance" is a big lie as far as I can tell. The only time it comes up is if the system reboots. And it only reboots when it crashes. Or the battery is disconnected.

I suppose that is correct. It always does that when I load a tune.

On my 2015 I've had the "performing scheduled maintenance" both while I'm driving and while the car was just sitting in the garage not running. Afterwards everything would just got to normal so I never questioned it. But I've never had it appear changing tunes.
