I hope I will still be welcome around here but since I never really had an SHO anyway, hopefully I can still be a member of the group. :) I picked up my Continental yesterday and it will replace my MKS. It is a Reserve series with the 3.0 400 hp/400 torque engine, climate and tech packages, Revel audio and the 30 way massaging seats.

It runs out pretty good considering it has under 100 miles on it. These come with a 3.39 axle so it gets off the line very well and would probably hang with my tuned MKS through first gear. I definitely will be getting a tune. There is lots of room for improvement in transmission shift quickness and firmness. Additional power would be icing on the cake.

This is not the greatest picture. I had just returned from a test drive on messy Minneapolis streets so the car is not as clean as I would have liked prior to taking the first picture.

Congratulations on the new car!!! Sounds like a really nice combination of creature comforts and power. Anyone make a base tune for it yet?

Livernois has a tune for the MKZ which uses the same engine and transmission as the Conti. Their first version picked up 53 HP at the wheels. As far as I know, they have not had a Conti on the dyno but it seems like their MKZ tune would be compatible. I haven't contacted them yet since I want to drive it stock for 1000 miles or so.

Nice! I gave one of those a good look when I was in for service recently, I do like the shape/size of the Continental. I have not seen one out on the roads yet, however. Hope it treats you well! Will be interested to see if you have success tuning.

And, 30 way massaging seats?!?!?! Really? Wow.

Any other pics?

Walk around of the car's exterior, wheels close up, pics of brakes, then move along to the interior, instrument panel, center stack, seating, maybe finish up with some shots of the engine bay......

That'd be swell.

We are taking a 600 mile round trip over the weekend and it appears snow is going to be part of the program. Nothing like getting a new car all covered with road salt and grime. :( I will have to give it a good cleaning when we return and take some better pictures.

Yeah, a fellow Lincoln owner.
Congratulations.
I still have 5 SHO's but bought my MKZ 15 months ago.
It's certified and a hybrid.
I average 39mpg city and or highway.

Congratulations on the Reserve model of the Continental.
I understand you will need a driver for that car, as all the features are available from the rear passenger-side seating.

It is 1961 all over again. Except this time buyers have to look past the default German brands and the Lexus / Tesla models to give the car a shot.
But it looks like you did, and congratulations on your choice.

Handles well and is very stable. The adaptive cruise doesn't like the ice on the front sensors but the roads are too crappy to use cruise anyway!
Lol adaptive cruise on ice... Sounds more like a challenge! Glad she is keeping everyone safe!

DEFINITELY Give us a ring and lets see what we can do for you on that regard. There will be differences in the tune just due to the different body style but shouldn't be anything we can't handle.

Thanks! Can I use my current MyCal device to obtain the strategy code? If I recall correctly, you hold the Up and N buttons to get into engineering mode and then scroll to get the appropriate info.

I am not ready to tune it yet but just curious if I will be able to use my current device or if I will need a different one.

You can recover the information using that. We have some new policies in place in order to get your tuner reset for your new vehicle. But yes you can use the Mycal to pull the strategy code.

I have about 600 mile on my Conti and that 400 HP/400 Torque engine combined with the 3.39 gear provides very strong performance. I am sure it is quicker than a stock MKS Ecoboost or SHO. As I said earlier, I think it would hang with (or even beat) my tuned MKS from a dig and through first gear. The one thing that really hurts performance is the torque management resulting in very poor shift performance.

In normal driving at part throttle the shifts are fine. Even fairly heavy throttle shifts are not too bad. However, under WOT, it almost feels like it hits the rev limiter prior to the shift. The engine bogs, the shift occurs and then it surges forward again. I swear it would cut at least a half second or more off the 0-60 if it would shift like my tuned MKS. Maybe more miles will improve this or, hopefully, a Livernois tune will reduce this ridiculous level of torque management.

Ive worked on a preproduction prototype 3.0tt conti with a mild powertrain durability tune. Feels like its about as quick and trans cal is about as responsive and my 4+x tuned sho. They've dialed the production models wayyy back.

I hope tuners like Livernois can restore some of what was dialed back. I am not so sure that my car doesn't hit the rev limiter at WOT when using sport mode. The shifts are crazy....it pulls really hard until the shift point and the engine just shuts down. The shift occurs and then it pulls hard again. Seriously, it feels exactly like what would happen on my MKS if I tried to shift using the paddles but waited too long.

It is not as bad in Drive but the torque management is still much too sensitive. The engine feels super strong, though. Just punching it from an idle off the line will break the 255/45-19 Michelins loose on dry pavement. My tuned MKS wouldn't even do that. There seems to be ZERO turbo lag.
