SHO ultimate family sedan?

Keep in mind that AWD only helps you avoid getting stuck. I have snow tires for my 4wd Jeep because the snow tires give you dramatically more traction for stopping and turning. If I drove my SHO regularly in the winter I would have a set of winter tires for it as well. Having the extra traction to stop and avoid one accident more than pays for a set of rims and tires.

I have an AWD Jeep GC, and there may be 3 days a year in Chitown that the AWD is useful; the other 362 days per year the roads are plowed or clear, and 2WD is better riding and handling than AWD. Go drive a Chevy SS, (with the manual especially) and I promise you will forget all about a SHO. These cars are insanely fun, comfortable riding as a DD, roomier than the SHO; the ultimate sleeper. They do cost more ( upper 40's out the door) but could also be future collector cars, as RWD manual shifted big V8's will be a thing of the past soon.

You must have missed what I've already typed out. I have a driveway that literally 1/4 mile long on slopes, you think I live in the city? If my Jeep in RWD with snow tires cannot make it up my driveway in the winter why would the Chevy SS? When it snows I don't have a snow plow come by my house for 2-3 days.

If I lived in the city where the roads are cleaned quickly and had a short flat driveway I would consider a rwd vehicle for a DD. But is it really that hard to understand when that's not the case a RWD vehicle doesn't work for some people? I know a RWD won't work for me because I used to have a mustang with snow tires and it didn't work a lot more than 3 days a year.

Yes, it pretty much has to break traction before the stability control kicks in. I have taken corners on dry pavement and had all 4 tires squealing (but not sliding) and not had it engage. On the other hand, I have attempted to powerslide around corners on snow and it the the stability control will absolutely take over.

I have noticed a link between the brake pedal and engine response. There are times with my foot barely touching the brake pedal (darn 2 foot driving habit) but not enough to apply the brakes and starting to accelerate there will be a hesitation until I totally lift off the brake. Not sure but it might be while turning. Otherwise everything is normal. Is that related to the traction/stability system? 2015pp.

I too don't really care for the pricing... but my issue really isn't with the asking price. My issue comes into play at the 50% depreciation that happens within 12-24months. That is just insanely huge in my opinion, way too fast. I am not sure if it's all supply and demand, and no one believes Ford's are worth anything after 2 years. Although the same argument can be made over most of the American brands: Dodge, Chevrolet, Buick. I am not sure if Cadillac and Lincoln hold their value a little better? If SHOs held their value better, the asking price for what you are getting doesn't seem too bad.

@Butcher - I can see alot of your points - but you are here on a SHO Forum basically saying you feel that it's a decent car, with bells and whistles and fairly comfortable (the only kudos from your original post). But the SHO in no way compares to your prior G8 and is a complete joke compared to other AWD sedans. I mean why not just go find a low mileage, mildly used G8 GXP and get back into something far superior? Personally, I've owned and tracked cars that are much faster than my SHO and I would suspect a G8. Do I feel the SHO is a complete waste? Not at all. And without doing a ton of research on a G8, your saying a G8 GT can run low 12s (12.3ish) for about $750 worth of mods? I am not saying it can't........I could be wrong, but that seems unlikely.

Nice summation, Angela! I do think Ford should engineer their cars knowing that people are NOT going to maintain them. If anything, that's my biggest peeve against the consumer. If you spend money on yourself to take care of yourself, does your car not deserve the same?

Yup, I immediately picked up on that. Sometimes people's emotions get the better of them and they miss the details.

Hi everybody. Ive been on the prowl for a new family sedan. After tons of research I think The SHO is the best out there. For the price you cant beat the performance and the tech goodies and the luxury feel. nothing even close with awd ...

I agree.

The debates that have arisen in this thread started with it's title, as everyone has a different idea as to what an "ultimate sedan" should be. I think the Chevy SS is a great car, but I live in the Northeast so AWD/All Season tires is just what I'm looking for. If I wanted high performance RWD, I would've forgone the notion of 4 doors and kept my '13 5.0 Mustang.

We also need to remind ourselves that Ford kept the SHO in a "FWD until loss of traction, then AWD" because it provides better mpg.
