Hi guys,

I bought this one last spring in Montreal aera. I'm repairing it since. He had a good life with very few winters (1 or 2) but he was not well maintained. (No recall did on it ?) Maybe it's the one that Phoenix saw in the aera... ("theres one in the province of quebec, I saw one for sale a year ago..."). I know that there is another one in Ottawa (Can) aera according to the screensaver of V8 SHOs until 2011... Mine don't have the front vanity plate but had all the options (as I know) including the cell phone (little spring antenna in the rear window, the black box in the trunk but the phone itself was missing).

Cam Situation : Not welded at 122 720 (!?), mint when checked and now welded

Can someone can confirm that only 58 was made with this color ? If yes, please give me the info and where is it. I'm making lots of researchs to have an idea about that and to know if I have the first (it's appears to be not, I have around the 10th, if 58 was made). I accumulated since somes VIN numbers from others Rose Mist from the net. How many cars do you have on your registry ?

I will be glad to post some photo when I know how to. It's surprising how this color changes with time of the day and weather. I have 2 photos taken by the same smart phone with 1 min. between and the color seems not the same... (purple and greyish pink). It's took me 2 months to adapt myself. I finnaly accepted that it's a little Hot Wheels color.

Sorry for the second post but when I search photos on the internet I found some photos with rose mist witch have the V8 logos on the side... (mine don't have it)

Anyone knows if it's factory made or an aftermarket add on ? My research with VIN numbers indicate that no 96 SHO were made with the V8 logos (by observation). Maybe the color was deleted after the logos appear in 97...? I'm just curious about the variants that we can find with this color.

The V8 logo was, and may still be, available from Ford so it could easily have been added.

Rose Mist was a '96 only color. No '96 Taurus had fender emblems from the factory, even for the 24V DOHC Duratec. '97 was the first year for those.

I have V8 emblems I'm going to be adding to my car.

Thank for the info on V8 logos, I never saw one for sale. It will be easier for my research.

In the way to confirm the famous 58 total number, I called at a phone number (1-800-FORD-788) that was reputed to be able to make certficate (50$ us IIRC) for many Ford models (mustangs and marauders) with the build date, launch date, position number in the color and position number in the total model make. (Sorry if I made mistakes, english is not my first language.) When I called there with my VIN number, the only thing they are able to find is the build date (4/4/96)... It's appeart that is an association of cars collectors and not a steady Ford phone service. Someone tried this phone number too ?

Maybe SHO infos are more difficult to find as they were build in the same line as SLO.

Buried in all the files on that site there is a ton of information. I think somewhere on there I saw a complete list of colours by number made and model year. It might take some hunting about to find it, though.

Yes, I saw that. ( http://www.v8sho.com/SHO/colorbyyear.html ) But this is based only on the owners that want to registrer their Rose mist SHO. Seven were counted at this time to make a Rose mist production proportion (7/212 registred 96-99 SHO = 3.30% for all four years...) even if we count nine IIRC in the owners directory of 2011... This % may have change since 2005.

Even if we take 3.3% of 4730 96 SHO (5033 it's not the good number IIRC for 96 production) it's result in 141,9 rose mist cars, far from 58... It's not very precise but it's give an idea of colors proportions.

It's the reason why I'm asking if someone really saw a source mentionning 58 rose mist SHO somewhere. There is much of speculations on the internet.

No, there is an actual listing of colours and numbers in that colour by year in there somewhere. No arithmetic of guesses needed. You might have to look pretty deep. There is just a ton of information on that site.

The only place I have seen a number, printed by a reputable source, is from the Ford Certificates. My certificate says 58 Rosemist SHO's and mine is in the mid 20's. They are all early 1996 cars, suggesting they only put the paint into the machines once.
The talk on V8SHO.com is just that - talk. Unscientific speculation. We came up with somewhere around 200 cars - estimated.

Do I think the 58 number is correct? No. Have I seen a lot more Green 99's and Gray 96's? **** yeah. Rosemist is by far most rare. Is there any other more reputable source of production numbers? No.
If you have a build sheet from Ford and want to stand with that number, who actually can stand against it? Ford said so and who is qualified to contest it? Just as good as a MARTI report on your 1960's Mustang at this point, and the mists of time will only blur the facts more every day.

Do you remember where specifically that list is on the V8SHO site, Eric? I recall running across it a couple of times but not being very colour interested, I did not fix it in my memory or copy it.

Something deleted maybe ?

Thanks for this info Eric. Where your certificate coming from ? Is the phone number I spoken before ? As the car ages and becomes more rare with time it will be usefull. Just to situate mine in the order can you give us a part of your VIN number ? Mine is 254 *** just before the old Paul Nimz Rose mist one.

Interesting, I found this link about certificates too. They seems not to be perfectly exact like Eric said (they do not include canadian cars). Maybe they made 58 for american market and another X bounch for Canada... Ok, I understood something today when I called where they made certificates : Canada + 1996 = ??.

They don't exclude Canadian cars either. The only differences I might be able to think of are DRLs and KM/H cluster for Canadian cars, there might be more though. Some of the data isn't 100% correct anyways.

Edit: I see where the 99 sheet does have a number for Canada sold/Registration which I didn't see on the sheets for the older cars.

If we want to debunk the numbers on the build sheets, I think we may have a simple way. Especially simple for Rosemist owners.

Look at line 91 6 in the report I just posted. It calls for exactly 3 JBL sound systems.

I have a JBL sound system in my 'Documented' Rosemist SHO. That leaves only 2 more cars possible if the list is true. If 3 more people on this registry can come forward and confirm that they have factory JBL sound systems in their cars, then it would be possible to assume that any of the other numbers could be suspect as well.

EDIT -
I already verified one 1996 Rosemist owner over on TCCA that has the JBL system. That's 2 out of three already. I believe we can verify 2 more.
