Okay, I am not new at all to the SHO community. However I have never really had much experience with the new generation. So kind of looking for some information on the new gen of SHO
I am planning on selling my 1995 to possibly buy a new SHO

What I am curious about:

Owners with more miles on your car-
Any major issues seen or come up?

Have they been a good reliable car? I would be driving as a semi dd car

Also just general opinion overall after owning one what you feel about it

I'm cery familiar with the setup they have and power output etc, just want to get drivers opinions after they have owned one

Thanks in advance

Good question and one that gets overlooked by all the power, mod, etc talk. I've only had my SHO For a couple months and absolutely love it. I drove a 2011 Limited before this and I really like the Taurus. Make no mistake they are big cars and often get criticized for being so large, but there is no shame in being a large car. We don't all have to drive two seat BMW's and there is a definite market for large family sedan's. You cant go wrong with any variation of a taurus for daily duty. I have never had any issues with either car and the new SHO is plenty powerful and to me feels lighter on it's feet than some other large cars. In my opinion the 13 SHO with performance package is the best all around vehicle I've ever owned. And I have owned a lot of cars over the years. You wont regret purchasing one.

Good to hear, I would be looking at likely a 2011 or 2012. But just wanted to make sure they were holding up long term well like the old ones.
I would be using it semi dd lol
Have a 1993 civic hatch for work and fuel sipping haha

If you can find a 13 at a reasonable price, the upgrades to the brakes over the 10-12 is worth it. That was the knock on those first years was inadequate brake feel so Ford gave the newer ones bigger rotors etc. From what I've read anyway. Good luck in your search for the new ride.

This is good to know, if I can afford it I would like to get a 2013 PP
Inadequate brakes are no fun

I was under the impression that the 2012 PP had bigger rotors as well? Well, all things being equal, the braking power on my 2012 PP is definitely far superior to what I had on my old 2004 Taurus SES. If that helps.

That does help man, I don't think I could swing a 2013 honestly lol
Too many bills and toys.

But on that note how do you know if it is a PP OR NON PP?
Not much luck figuring that out yet

It won't have a spare and it will have those foamy steering wheel covers.

Very informative! And makes me want one even more lol
Sadly this car would make a dd car that wouldn't be far at all behind my weekend toy

My daily driver beats my weekend toy all day long from 0-60. I'll take my mustang to pull away at 60-150!!

Yep... no spare tire. I have a foam-like ring where the tire would go, and some type of portable pump kit in the middle of it. Also, on a 2012 at least... try the traction control button. Press twice and it will say "AdvanceTrac Sport Mode". If you press and hold for a 10 count, as soon as you release the button, it will say "Traction Control Off". As I understand it, the non-PP variety don't have "truly off", only "Sport Mode". (If I'm wrong about non-PP's not having "true off", someone correct me!) Also, the dealer should know what options were purchased on the car when it was new. My dealer knew it was PP as well. The pump-in-lieu of spare tire though is definitely a dead giveaway.

Ok, just want to verify as it seems nobody or SHO's for sale list if it is a PP.
I would reallllyy like to have the PP as mentioned earlier I think for all the added cooling upgrades. I won't ever get crazy with it but I would probably do the stage 3 tune and full exhaust in time. lol

If you are going to tune, I would recommend talking to Livernois about getting a 3 bar sensor, 160 thermostat and a V8 tune. That's the hottest tune for the 13-14's now. If you go 10-12, the 4X tune is the one to run. Don't leave any safe performance on the table. And, don't forget to make sure your plugs are gapped at 30. Good Luck!

Thanks for the heads up, yeah when I do in the semi near future after I buy one lol. Livernois is who I likely will be dealing with. Researched the mods for this car a bit lol.
Probably there exhaust as well.

Are there any areas or points of the car that would need preventative modification etc?
Such as adding an oil catch can for too much blow by?

Spark plug swap out/regap as Dave mentioned earlier. Opinions divided on PCV catch can stuff. So for now, I'd leave that off the list. I would check for oil in the intake/turbos/intercooler etc. and clean that out as much as possible. PTU fluid change if the car has some miles on it. PCM calibration up to date prior to tuning. Familiarize yourself with TSBs for the vehicle and be aware of any such issues while driving.
