So in my progress of swapping a Vulcan with a SHO, I came up to a good question.

The Transaxle length on both sides [left and right] of the SHO, are they the same length of the ones found on a 3.0L Vulcan? My guess is not, and to swap those with the engine, but if it is, it's one less thing to do. They're both the AXOD though.

Thanks !

You need the SHO AXOD. Even if they were physically the same on the outside they are different internally.

Aqua, so what are you putting this SHO in? How about some pics.

I'm swapping both the transmission and engine, into a Gen 4 Taurus.

The left and right transaxle is what I'm wondering if I can leave in there.

Currently I'm in rebuild status of the SHO, engine is out and being cleaned up and painted. All new hoses, gaskets, etc will but put on it as well.

So in an effort to revive this topic and use it as my build log, I want to share my project status so far.

I'm trying to work on one car at a time, and with 60 hours of work a week it is proving to be difficult finding free time to work on them.

The project is two cars, a 1995 3.2L SHO, and a 2000 Taurus SE, 3.0 Vulcan.

I'm swapping both the engines, so the SE gets the SHO, and the SHO gets the vulcan. I then hope to give the car to my brother for his first car or sell it to get the money I invested in it back.

I started this project around May last year, but my progress is still coming along decent even though I never really have time to work on it. [It's almost every other weekend that I do anything to it.]

Basically so far I've pulled the engines out of both cars already. Swapped the subframes, swapped the fuel systems, the exhaust, and installed the Vulcan in the 95. Being a **** of a wiring mess, I finally got it down to one problem.

The thing turns over, it's got power to all the relays, sensors, etc. All the electronics work, minus the fuel pump.

The fuel pump is functional though, with voltage applied it does run. But the PCM is not talking to the FPDM to send it voltage, at all.

I cannot figure out why either. I looked online to figure out this one and I had two leads, the security system, and the location of the FPDM. Since the FPDM was located close to the tank in the 2000, I relocated it there, still nothing. I swapped everything that makes up the security system into the 95, and still nothing.

I keep thinking it's such an easy fix, but I'm at my wits end. I have not refilled the tank yet either, because I assume I may have to drop it again to check the wiring [did that a few times already] so I kind of thought that maybe it had something to do with it sensing no gas or pressure and telling it not to run. I never tested that theory yet though.

If anyone has any clues to this or any insight to share, I'd appreciate it!

But, without further delays, here's some pictures of the "ordeal" thus far!

There is a ton more progress on that car too, but these pictures are from June-November last year.

More to come soon! Just gotta get passed this fuel pump problem since it's kicking my ass! [And I'm an electrician!!]

Probably a good idea to rename this thread since I'm hijacking it myself. :p

I...don't understand. Man, people make fun of ME for taking stuff apart.

Why do the two swaps?

I want a Gen 4 SHO. Simple. :)

It goes a little deeper, I'm tried of going to car shows, and seeing people get awards for just buying a mustang and washing the rims. I want a car that's different and exotic.

But it's too late to go back now. Wiring in the SHO to the 2000 is going to be a cakewalk compared to putting the 2000 in the 95. I didn't want to just scrap the 95, so I want to get it running again.

I wouldn't bet a penny on that. you will have to somehow massage in the obd1 engine/trans control system into an obd2 car. nothing trivial about that.

Still having issues with the PCM not talking to the fuel pump. Going to grab a new pcm from the J/Y tomorrow. So far, everything that goes to the engine is in the car.

Anyone have any idea why that wouldn't send voltage to the fuel pump?

Yup, Everything that makes the 3.2 will stay with it.

I should have everything for the vulcan transferred too, but still it acts funky. I'm hoping a new PCM fixes it though.
