I'm not crazy about the stock upper grille, and I'm not entirely sold on the Mobsteel one either. I think it looks great on black cars, but on silver, it almost looks too...open? I was going to look into taking out the two silver bars in the grille, just leaving the center chrome bar. I haven't looked at it real carfully at how the bars are joined into the frame, or what it might involve to take them out. I do know anything can be done with patience, the right knowledge, and enough money (ha!), and I'm no stranger to doing custom work to my vehicles. I've done some minor body work in the past, and I also have a few friends that work at body shops. I think it's doable.

Sure is. I was going to make my own mobsteel grill out a factory grill. I was steered away from that, by mobsteel that's how they did there show car. But with that said, they said it would look like **** after 6 months due to unlike materials that expand and contract at different rates in different temps. I agree was a concern of mine also.
However I think you idea is less evasive and do able. Your in luck the silver bars pop right out, all you would to do is fill and smooth where there notched in on the out bezel. Which if I where to do, I back the notched out area with some sheet aluminum and fill with bumper repair epoxy. The only potential big hurdle if you want is chromed again.

One of the photos I took today. I tried the HDR function on my camera and it didn't turn out that great, but I think I needed a different background. I also didn't have much time because I was blocking the street and didn't want a car to come. I am still learning how to use this camera so hopefully I can take something better in the future.

Someone recommended spraying behind the grill with flat black, which is awesome advice. I had a can laying around and did the crash bar and a few other silver things. Now you cant see anything back there unless you really look. I also found I have plenty of room for a fog light retrofit, and maybe even train horns :) After hearing a set of train horns in person about 3 years ago I have always wanted a set on one of my cars. If anyone comes across a set of the oem led bumper surrounds please let me know. Silver or unpainted is fine.

Unique..... and it looks hella good!

Do you plan on re-installing your front plate & bracket? I can't help but notice the holes there.....

Otherwise, nicely done :thumb:

No holes, they are painted caps. Same thing as bumperplugs.com. I plan on having the front bumper repainted in the spring, holes repaired, and the drl surrounds painted white as well. I am hoping the spring because I have to pay for a trip to Mexico to get married, and the reception in the summer as well. Also starting up a photobooth business as well so a lot of my money is tied up right now.

Nope shes American. We really don't care for the whole church wedding, and had such a great time in Jamaica in May we decided to get married on the beach.

When someone with a candy red sho going to make the leap and put mobsteel grill in? Hint Hint! Colin?
I am curious to see what one would like, I think it would be a good fit.

haha, maybe. I'm not entirely disappointed with the OEM grill yet.......but lately I've been totally distracted by my other newfound toy..:)

I may get to the SHO grill ... we'll see.

Those are good points. It'd be trial and error but I think it could work. As for chroming, I'd sand it down and body match it instead.

I think too the Mobstill would look very nice on the red candy, black grill and bottom left SHO emblem in red, that'd be sweet!

I sprayed mine. Don't forget the top of the crash bar too. Mine was white and stuck out like a sore thumb if you were looking down on the grill.

I'm a pretty avid photographer myself :) If you don't mind me asking, what are you doing the HDR for? I honestly don't find them that cool for car photos unless you have a city / night scene background. They also are good for LED lighting schemes.

I would get closer to the car and bring your FSTOP down to where the car is in focus, but the background is blurred. Maybe put it on a tripod around the height of the headleights at an angle off the side of one of the headlights, like maybe 15 ft off? I like your angle. I always use geometry when doing my shots. It's like you were drawing a triangle, and one line goes from the camera to the far headlight, while the other line goes from the camera to the rear of your car. The middle line (where you are shooting), goes to the closer headight, and that would be your straight shot. The farther back you go, the wider the angle. It looks sweet! Also, if you switch sides or reposition the car, you may be able to get the guard rail out of the photo.

Check out this shot. Notice how the bridge is blurred a little in the background. I wanted to try some more shots, but it started raining! I wanted to blur the bridge even more.

I believe he is talking about blacking everything behind the grill. The bump core, hose, wiring, etc. I know I posted this tip after realizing I could see some un-wanted things behind the grill.
