If you have front end play and the wheel and rotor move together when you shake the front end down the you more than likely have a bad wheel bearing. Try tightening the axle nut to 180-200 ft-lbs and see if you still have play vertically and side to side.
Even if you have other damaged front end parts such as tie rod ends or balljoints it still should not allow the wheel/rotor/hub to make contact with the caliper bracket. The only thing that would cause that would be a bad bearing OR that the axle nut has not been tightend correctly and the bearing is not preloaded correctly. Or when the dude put everything back together he over tightend the CV axle nuts and caused the bearing to literally wear itself out. If have seen that one plenty of times with hasty technicians at work.
yea it was definately the wheel bearing. Now that the new one is in no more scraping..all is well for now until the next thing lol..
the reason may be a worn wheel bearing or hub assembly. Since the rotor sits on the hub assembly it might caused it to rub against the brake caliper.
Didn't read the rest of the thread? The reason may be a worn wheel bearing or hub assembly. Since the rotor sits on the hub assembly it might caused it to rub against the brake caliper.
