I say fix it and enjoy it. The wide body is going to keep it off the road even longer than what you are planning right now.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

you're definately right on that one, and looking at pictures, it looks as though the Gen II's aren't any wider in the fender than the Gen I's, they just have a little more wheel well arch in them.

Also, do Gen II doors fit the Gen I bodies? I assume the interior door panels wouldn't fit, but do the exterior trim pieces use the same holes in the doors? :thankyou:

Cant wait to start painting this beast for ya.

Thanks man, and thanks to Clay for donating 3 (or 4) rust free new doors! Parts cars rule. :thankyou:

Now I just need to make some new rocker panels, and either widen the fenders a bit, or fix the existing stock panels.

Found some Stereo goodies, a keypad computer so I can have a working keypad, worked on mounting the Gen I panels onto the Gen II doors. It looks as thought you just need to swap the door handle and mounts for the upper door grab bar (?) in order to make the swap work. More time will tell.

Hopefully more pics by tomorrow. Even though it sucks being all rusty, I LOVE working on it, hopefully that doesn't change. :nut:

That will change. It usually happens when the car is the furthest from being road worthy and just after dropping a substantial amount of money on it.

Well.. get made more progress last night.. Started mocking up the doors, like Tim stated it shouldn't be too difficult. We also found those Pioneer speakers in a wrecked 94!!

I remember that guy with IMpala lights on Gen I put Gen2 quater panels on his car. In my car I'm going to do flares, maybe slightly wider for arches, but not really wide body kit. The reason why I would do that is because I have 1" spacers in the back and what , I think, this car really needs is wider wheel base in the back for better handling. With wider wheel base, you need to stop wheels rubbing...

Something is wrong if you need a wider rear track.

Update, yesterday we started working on stripping the rusty passenger door to replace it with the new, rust free one, Finished mounting the first Gen I panel onto one of the new Gen II doors. Not too shabby!

Tim, I am curious as to why you decided to mount the door panels knowing that we will have to paint them to match the rest of the car...?

we haven't mounted them. Theyre just resting there with 2 screws in to make sure everything we drilled lighned up correctly etc. We still need to drill the holes for the gen 1 door skins on the outside.. but that shouldn't be difficult at all!!
