My name is Vlad.
Six or so years ago I owned a black 89 MTX SHO, and absolutely loved it... I've been a member of the shotimes mailing group ever since, but never really an active participant. Lately, I've been looking into getting back into a gen 1 SHO. Not too far away from my house, a gentleman has a gold 91 SHO (with the plus hood, not sure if its really a plus or not) for sale. It has been in his family since new and mechanically is pretty well maintained. He has had it for sale for a while now, as it just sits in his barn.
Theres just a few major issues - the front rotors are warped, the paint is pretty bad an there is rust on the drivers door frame. Also, it unfortunately has the cable shifter and the plastic grommet that holds it to the shifter broke.
Therein lies my problem, I've found various sho sited with instructions on the conversion, and it looks to be a pretty messy endeavor, that and I have to source the proper exhaust parts to make it fit as well. I've really wanted to get back into an sho, and with the exception of these few problems it is a pretty good car..
Please give me some advice on what to do, I am ok with tinkering with cars unbolting and bolting stuff to them, but the only thing I have ever used a saw for was a miter saw for my laminate flooring... That and I dont have a saw, jack, or stands to enable me to work on the car.. Do I give up??
