alright im working out a deal for a 97-98? sho v8. has 120k on motor 200k on trans. kid fell asleep at the wheel and took out a comercial mailbox or something big. has broken wheels on pass side, bent control arm on front right, bent struts, broken knuckle on rear. still runs and goes into gear just wont move without a bit of help becuase of the damage. needs body work but not too much major. i would like an honest opinion of what its worth and what a good price for me to pick it up would be. does $500.00 sound like a bad price? thank you for your input.

Parts car. Feeling up to it? Find a nice v8 SHO that has spun a cam and put the motor in it. Make sure the cams have been welded first.

The motor and transmission are the two valuable parts, so I don't think $500.00 is too much money for the car.
If the car really did hit a commercial mailbox, your best bet would be to look for another car with a cam or tranny problem, and swap in parts from this one.

The only thing worth money is the motor.. for a wrecked one that you have to pull the motor.. 250-400MAX

I'm with Kirk, with that much damage I would offer < $500 for it.

got a better look at it but still forgot pics. the front fender has a basketball sized dent in it. hood is still good, a piller on pass side got hit so it cracked windshield. suspension damage is bent front control arm and busted rear knuckle.

now i know its in the v8 section but in all honesty what is faster for racing v8 sho stripped or v6 atx stripped

The first 2 generations of SHOs have a welded seam in the floor where the front and rear stamped panels are joined. The Gen 3 floor is stamped in one piece, which was an engineering marvel at the time, using a monster press. That, and other things, make the Gen 3s the stiffest, by far, of the SHOs

If you want a price for a wrecked gen3 SHO check out Copart.com and see what one might be going for to compare with. Just a thought.
