Hello everyone! My name is Shawn. I own a black/tan 93 mtx and a red/tan 94 mtx(parts) and have been in the SHO repair (ownership) business for about ten years now and thought after reading all the posts on shoforum that i would finally write a little something. It's actually been kinda neat to see the enthusiasm for the cars and the comradery that you guys have. I hope that i may be able to pick some of your brains some time if i have any questions about the black brick.(thats what i call her. shes been a 2 year project that sits in my carport and has slowly come together. almost done :) )
Hope i can add positive info to this forum, too!
Thanks for all the hidden help i have received from you guys and look forward to being apart of the az SHO world if there is any more room.
Oh yeah, my brother says thanks too! He has a silver/grey 95 mtx.

Thanks again
Shawn

Welcome Shawn. We'll have a get together out here at my shop as soon as my daughter delivers my second grandson to me in the next week or two. Too busy right now to schedule anything.

Congatulations! Hope you plan on spoiling the crap outta those kids. I don't have kids yet, but my parents are gettin' antsy and looking forward to spoiling grandkids of their own. :)

Gotta question for you guys... has anyone had the accel supercoil? I got two of them before i did research(i am an Idiot) and am having trouble figuring out why mine and my bros Shos run like crap with them in. I've since seen mixed reviews of them(mostly neg), but i don't want to think that this will be a live and learn lesson of over $160.
Any help will be appreciated and congrats again!

94 red/mocha for Free

Okay. After Tom was kind enough to correct my post(he was very polite to this newcomer, I might add:) Thanks for going easy.), i am gonna try this again with a little more clarity.
I am looking give my car away for free to someone who wants it or needs it. I don't need or want it anymore and she is just taking up space in the backyard. It will need to be towed on a car dolly or the like, because i have pretty much decimated the brakes to get to the spindles for the upgrade on my 93. It rolls with the older spindles, but has no brakes. If anyone has questions about what the car has or doesn't have, write back, and i willl give the info. This might be a good opportunity for someone to take this car up to the mythical Dooleyville this upcoming weekend and have the car parted out. Not sure. Just a thought.:salute:

Also, does anyone have a black gen2 with donor body parts?

Sorry, but my brother and I won't be able to make it this time around, but hopefully we will be invited in the future! Thanks for the invite, though.

This is your 94 MTX? Is the body straight? How is the motor? What is wrong with it?

I bought the car in 2002 and have the title. It is a 94 mtx red ext. mocha int.
The body is pretty rough in some spots. in 2005, a lady backed into me and dented the front drivers fender a little(noticably) and i never got it fixed, because shortly after that, the crank snapped on me and i had a new engine put in. it's missing the headlights and one of the taillights was smashed in. the doors are okay except for the driver front body molding. the hood, trunk, and top of car have some sun damage, but appear straight. i also took the bumper and put it on my 93. the tranny and the car have 145k about, but the engine that was put in only had 44k. the tranny was hard to get into gear. i think it might have bad synchros, but i am not sure. about a month later, the car died. oil in the spark plug wells. not knowing what to do, i parked it and it has sat ever since(i was in college and had no more money to fix it or the time to figure out the problem)! the bad news is the top of the engine is in shambles. I took the intake off to get to the shims and pretty much ruined the timing belt cover. the engine hasn't been turned over in years. it has no front brakes, rod shifter, or y-pipe. i have also taken off a few other odds and ends to put on my 93mtx. I can try to post some pics(if i can figure out how the H to do that), but otherwise thats the best description i can give. oh, the interior is a little rough too(typical)!;)

Forgot to ask; is this an Arizona car, i.e., spent most of its life here?

Pics would be good. I'm not very mobile right now, and have a nasty head cold to boot, but I might be interested in it. Might take me a bit to be able to look at it. What part of town is it located at the moment?

Eric, you want me to pick it up and bring it up there since I will have a truck and trailer that day?

Troy,

It's already here. But if you did bring your trailer here, we could transfer it to yours and then strip it down on your trailer. Maybe. It's so crunched we might need to put it on the lift to get the engine and subframe out of it. It's pretty crunched.

I'll bring some SawzAlls too.

But I meant does he want me to pick this 94 up and bring it. Not the Pumpkin, which I think is what you are talking about. Unless I'm confused again. Happens pretty frequently with all these kids running around underfoot. :)

Dude, that would rock. I'll talk to Tom, though, to see whether to bring it to my house or his place.

I bought the car in tucson, but found a receipt from a shop in flagstaff dated '98. The car is in the NW valley around 59th ave and Greenway in my back yard, but will be on the street waiting for the new owner(s)!
Pics will be posted later.

Damn, my mistake. I'll back away slowly and try not to trip myself. Back to your regularly scheduled thread.

And tomorrow it will be smaller. Shawn, do you need the license plate before it gets turned into a bridge trellis?
