Has anyone looked at the drilled and slotted rotors that are on e-bay? They say there for 2010 SHO's.

What he said , the only drilled rotors that are good are the ones that were made for racing , IE :Brembo brakes - lambos - porsche and so forth just because they are meant to be that way (perforated) , they are not just OEM discs re-drilled.

Go with bigger brakes instead of perforations.

Yeah, I'd go with slotted over drilled. I've had both on my truck, though now I'm running slotted only:

Not to mention putting holes in the rotor decrease the friction area that the pad has to grip to. Less surface area equals hotter braking temps and less performance.

The other problem with drilled rotors are they are rust builders and as such then do not dissipate heat properly and end up causing warping and possible metal fracture. Stay with the "Dimpled" or "Slotted" style.

My brakes will make your face fall off..oh and they are d/s. Been through multiple canyon runs and track runs, no issues.

Great! But you can have those faces fall off faster and with more force with better (read: non-drilled) rotors.

shobob, get the drilled rotors if you want, the car isn't going to blow up with those rotors. Just know going in that you're getting an inferior product (it's from Ebay!) that will result in worse braking for your 4,400lb car with mediocre brakes to begin with.

zinc coated

Listen here drag racer! LOL most that own the other three versions of the SHO road course race. The heat generated from doing a single good event where you pushed the car will wipe out the zinc coating.

looks good when done but never lasts. Plus your adding weight!:nut:

I agree with the consensus that slotted rotors are the way to go when you need the performance. Cross drilling just looks cool and they'll be fine for normal street use. On the track though, they're prone to heat cracks emanating from the holes. You have to use your head when buying "performance" products on eBay. Those ones on there are probably somebody with a drill press and a bunch of bits.

Has anyone really pushed the envelope with stock front brakes on a road course? I've heard a lot of ******* and moaning about them. Maybe I've missed it, but I haven't seen any real experience testimonials. Of course you're gonna get better performance with upgraded brakes, but are the stock ones really that bad?

I'd be curious... I didn't pick up my SHO for the track myself, so wwant to see what others get. I may autocross it a few times, but otherwise that what the other car is for.

You guys are hte ones that bought the car, so your opinions are the ones that really matters ultimately.

I think it's just that the brakes is one universal thing that the press said needed improvement. I'm sure they're perfectly fine for daily driving, just that when the car is supposed to be performance oriented, and also happened to weight 4,400lb; it might not be a bad thing to be over-braked than being merely adequate.

i should probably correct myself, when i say cross drilled slotted, i'm just used to the term

i just got my new rotors in for my stang today, i guess the proper term would be dimpled / slotted rotors.

give the same look, but won't break up like "cross drilled"

Very nice. You can really gauge rotor wear too with these.

I put slotted and drilled rotors on my Mustang, and the thing I noticed most, was they cost twice as much. And I am pretty sure my pads wore out quicker.

Just a matter of time before the rotors fail. When they fail, you can add them to the collection of cracked 13" rotors in my garage.

So what is the difference in the pad material in the 2010-2011 perf package?
is it a good upgrade for a replacement or are other brands prefered?
