Hey everyone! I've added another SHO to the stable... :woo-hoo:

It's a '97 TR with 107k (and yes, it's welded)

I just purchased the car on Sunday and haven't driven it again until today because I didn't have time to get the plates taken care of. Everything worked just fine when I drove it the 3 hours to get it home, however now the turn signals don't work! :nut: The hazards don't work either, and both fuses are good.

I did some digging and it appears that the blinker relay OR the MFS (as a longtime SHO owner I know what that really stands for..) appears to be the culprit according to past experience.

How much time is required for R&R? Any other hints or tips, procedures anywhere for the Gen3? Hopefully I can get this taken care of ASAP.

Thanks!

Do the 4 ways work? If so it's not the flasher but the MFS.

check the connection going into the switch. I've seen lots of the hardshell connectors break inside so the wires get vibrated out over time. Take the steering column shroud off and pull lightly on the wires to see if they come out.

Okay, I decided to use some brute force.. I worked the hazard button for a while and now they work just fine. So I'm gathering I need to clean the MFS.

Is WD-40 the only thing that works for cleaning the switch? I don't appear to have any on hand at the moment...

I managed to locate a can of WD-40 and gave the hazard switch a few squirts worth of it.... wow does it move a lot easier now!

I worked it a number of times, and after a while the hazard switch became even easier to push, and now it works all the time without sticking or not coming on even though it is up. The last thing to start working was the turn signals, but sure enough - now they both work reliably too!

Many thanks for a simple and easy fix! :salute:
