Do not buy this. My friend had the 760W one, it blew like 3 times in 3 months, luckily he had a warranty. It was pushin 2 12's and kept blowin. Thats why they're so cheap. Stay away from sony. Your best bet is probably Alpine.

The reason he blew it is probably because he bridged it. That particular amp is a two channel amp and can not be bridged, or run on an ohm load lower than 4 ohms. I sell them at work and everyone that comes back blown was hooked up wrong. Read the instructions first.

Sharp-looking SHO dude. Didn't originally like that color, but it's look sharp on your car!

Thats weird, last time I checked he had it professionally installed.

my rule of thumb is, for home audio and video, sony is the way to go. for the car, they just can't cut it. Do you see sony as OE on any cars? Nope. Alpine is OE for mercedes and many other luxury cars, as well as JBL for ours, Infinity for chrysler, and bose for GM upper end.

Yes, our OE system is JBL, but the CD player is Sony, but then again that is usually the first thing that goes.

Where did he have the gain set. Did he put a bigger amp fuse in it. You said it was professionally installed who did it.

Sorry to Say Ford uses Sony head units. The new MACH units may not be but the fact there is a SONY Edition Focus made leads me to think otherwise. Though at least that has the nice explode head unit with the folding face and it looks nice. But it blows up bad if you use it for anything beyond what your average 80 year old would. 4 times on my friend had the sub replaced 2 times the amp. Then he got smart and traded it for a normal one with a reserve on an SVT.

I know a guy with the Sony Xplode speakers, he's not happy with them. The Xplode stuff is sold at Walmart - I think it's the low-end stuff for the mass market - my opinion.

I got a SONY Xplode head unit (CDX-7050?) and have had it for almost a year. No problems yet, and I do exercise it every day. Boom Boom

I have a set of SONY 6x9's hooked to the above unit. They are the old model....moble ES or something, they also work fine.

Only problem is all the panels in the back of the car rattle and buzz like crazy!!

I do higher-end Pioneer, Infinity, MTX, etc. - Lanzar if they were still around. I've never really been keen on Alpine, and have had mixed results with JVC. Kenwood was also a good one for me. Blau... Crapola.
