I just purchased a 2010 SHO and I love this car. I am also new to the forum and found all the threads to be very helpful. After reading a few threads on under engine covers I noticed that Mine is gone. How important is this cover and do I need to fork out $200 bucks for a new one.

Thanks

I'd say it is important in that is helps with airflow and keeping the engine bay clean.

Was it missing when you purchased the car? If so, I would go back on dealer or private seller that sold it to you.

On my EB Flex, there are air ducts that direct cooling to the turbos.

Sold the car so I would sell the cover I removed that only has 2 of the fasteners with it for cheap.

engine cover?

If your asking about the engine cover itself, its for looks. You can pick one up cheap on ebay. It's what's under that, the engine itself, thats the problem. My 2010 SHO needed a long block at 34K. Took a month to get it done. Cars been nothing but trouble... JP

Mine went missing on one of the trips to the dealer for service. If the tech doing the oil/filter change had been more carefull and cleaned up better so I wouldn't have had drips on the garage floor, I'd have never known it was missing. Dealer has it ordered/back ordered. Since they have done all the service, it's on them.......

I might be willing to part ways with mine, as I will soon be able to no longer use it (I have a new exhaust mod being installed soon).

But shipping may be an issue as you live in FL and I am in IL.

There's still debate on how useful this piece actually is.....

Some of us have removed it entirely, in order to provide better cooling.

However, if you push your SHO hard enough, like beyond the 130MPH limits, you will inevitably experience some vertical flapping, or bouncing of the hood as air is rushing under the car and into the engine bay, causing this (if the cover is removed).

But if you don't envision yourself travelling at those speeds, then I don't really see a need for the piece on the car personally.

Are you getting some nice down pipes installed on your car?? :dribble:
