I did the top 60K this past weekend. The amount of oil in the plug wells was overwhelming and the reason for my cars previous issues.

Runs well now. It does have a rough idle but only upon start up after sitting for a few hours. Once it warms up it runs fine. After about 15 minutes of driving the CEL comes on. It goes away after about 5 minutes and then returns.

During the 60K I replaced the DIS with the one from my other SHO as the one it had was broken. I replaced the coil pack with the one from my other as well as suggested in another thread for the solution to a problem. I put Bosch Platinum +4 Plugs in to replace the old ones before reading that the Motorcraft plugs are the best choice. The O2 sensors are brand new.

The codes:
Before I did the 60K my car was throwing 3 digit codes. Now its tossing out 2digit codes.

Key On Engine Off
14 - Ignition Pickup was irradic
19 - No Vehicle Power (pins 37 + 57) or bad PCM VPWR Diagnosis

Key On Engine On
42 - (R) System rich - Fuel control
(M) System was rich for 15 seconds or more (no HO2S switching) - Fuel control
77 - System did not receive "goose" test
91 - (R, M) System running lean - Fuel controlll
Transmission SS 1 circuit/solenoid problem - Transmissions

If anyone can translate that would be great.
Thanks

Ditch the platinum 4's, Get Autolite 3924 plugs.

Other then that, someone else will chime in with a better answer for the codes.

x2 on the plugs. It's been a known fact for over 15 yrs that SHOs and BOSCH plugs don't do well. Put stocker Motorcraft or Autolites in there and try again. Don't think plugs would cause a CEL but they can make the car run like ass. Fortunately, plugs are cheap for these cars.

Seems like your codes have to do with spark, so if the plugs don't resolve the issue, that coil pack or DIS might be bad.

your car most definitely was not giving you 3 digit codes previously and now 2 digit codes, unless you changed the pcm.

what pcm is in the car? 89-91 give 2 digit codes and 92-95 give 3 digit codes.

14 is a bad crank sensor - I have never seen this code without having a bad crank sensor and if not replaced soon, you will find yourself stranded when you can least afford it.

19 is a bad cam sensor or bad wiring to the cam sensor.

42 is rich on the rear bank.
91 is lean on the front bank.
since you just put new o2 sensors in, first make sure you have them plugged in completely, then check for vacuum leaks all over. vacuum leaks are common after doing the top 60k as its easy to overlook a vacuum line or two when reconnecting things.

where did you get the "Transmission SS 1 circuit/solenoid problem - Transmissions" message? - these cars have no transmission solenoids.....

happy hunting!

91 PCM. I could have been mistaken when I first pulled the codes 2 weeks ago.

Bad crank and cam sensors...I guess its time for the front 60K? I don't know if my mechanical knowledge, or lack there of, extends to that portion of the engine. I might have to get it done somewhere.

O2 sensors were replaced with the full exhaust by a mechanic. But I will double check the connections this weekend when I get time. I double checked all vac lines but I will check again. There is an air leak...I think its a cracked coupler. It sounds like a turbo charger.

I was copy and pasting from the shophoenixproject.com site. I used it to do the Top 60K, minus the shim replacement.

Thanks for the feedback though
