Okay I have two questions, one is kind of a dumb question so you all have been for warned... I just got new Motocraft sparkplugs and each plug has what looks like a metal gasket!! My question is... what direction does that gasket go in?? It is not a flat gasket and was wondering if the smaller lip goes on the bottom??

Second question: I would like to clean my throttle body, I read the warning on it that states not to clean because of the protective coating!! Was wondering if STP throttle body and air intake cleaner would damage it. If so, are there any other recommendations??

Thanks..

yo man. I just replaced my spark plugs with the Motorcraft ones. The guy that owned my car put ****** split fires in it. What a piece of junk. Anyway, that metal gasket screws onto the plug and the bigger part screws on first. When tightening down the spark plugs you will feel that gasket get compressed and then you turn the spark plug one more turn after that.

Now about the throttle body......I'm not quite sure. lol sorry about that. Later man

The spark plug gasket is installed with the smaller diameter side towards the strong steel of the plug and the larger diameter side towards the softer aluminum of the head. The spark plug torque is 17-19 lb-ft.

The STP throttle body cleaner is exactly the type of cleaner they are warning you against using. Try a water dampened rag to rub the buuildup away from the throttle seating area.
