single exhaust or dual exhaust for rear wheel drive setup

I have a 3.2 liter and it's going into a rear wheel drive configuration. I am wondering if it would help the motor make more horsepower to run it with single exhaust or dual exhaust?

If you are fabricating some headers and have the ability to run duals, go for it.

You will probably still want a crossover pipe if you run true duals. If you have mad fab skills you could try your hand at a sequential header system. That is where the six primaries enter a single collector in a circle AND in the same order as firing. Makes for a Formula 1 or Indy car sound.

back to the original question, with the even firing of the SHO V6 (alternating left bank, right bank, etc), there is no difference in performance between a properly executed single or dual exhaust system.

Cool, thanks for the info Rubydist. I think I will go with 2 inch dual exauhst with a cross over. It may be old school but that's what I grew up with.

Shamrock, what's the "rear wheel drive configuration" you're speaking of? Non-Taurus? Would like to see some pics.

Yes 3d914, it's rear wheel just like you think it would be. I turn the sho motor 90 degrees , put a t5 transmission on it using an adapter plate and put it in a mustang or what ever rear wheel drive car you want. Of course it's more difficult than I am making it out to be. Mine for instance is going into a Austin Healey 100-4.
