Among many others, including having members that have had SHO's since 89, they have a classified's section that's still working. I'm not saying this to elicit responses from the moderators, but to just point out that there are other options to this forum and also that it sometimes requires a fee to make things work.

There are additional charges for the conventions. In addition to membership I paid 55.00 for pre-registration in addition to the car show and banquet. I felt that it was worth every penny I paid so this is not to down the SHO Club at all, simply to point out that there are more fees involved with the conventions.

If you have questions, I'd suggest that you contact Don Mallinson directly, or visit their website here. Don will be more than glad to help you.

Sorry I don't visit the SHOforum often, I spend most of my time with SHOclub.com and my other business.

The SHOclub has several main functions/benefits:

We mainly publish the quarterly magazine, nobody else puts out a regular publication, and I like to think they are worth reading and saving.

We also put on the only national convention for the SHO. There are other events that include the SHO, but ours are just for SHO's and their fans, (and the occasional rental or other car if the SHO is out of commission!).

We have the web site that benefits all SHO owners, is free, has a great classified section (free), full events listing for SHO related events/club events, links and editorial comment, plus news and other fare.

I do not try to compete with SHOtimes.com and V8SHO.com as a repository of historical and tech information, they do a great job, no sense in duplicating efforts there.

As the national organization (International, our friends in Canada would say!) we work to help keep these cars on the road, mainly by being a clearinghouse for information, and keeping the car in the limelight with national publications etc.

SHO Club doesn't sell parts, but several vendors will give discounts for SHOclub members if you ask.

We will offer a decent line of unique SHO clothing, we brought out a new Shirt at the convention. Hats to come and more shirts. We have offered a nice jacket for some time.

I hope that answers the questions, if not, please contact me directly at our tech/talk line at:

309-444-8570 or email me at:

Thanks for your interest, hope you decide to join SHO Club

I forgot to mention, I don't think kaoticSHO was being unkind, but the key word their is "contribution" Our charity event is always totally voluntary. We asked each "car" registered to donate something they loved to the charity auction this year. Most cars did, if they didn't, no problem at all.

We raised $4000 for the Red Cross, and that money will stay in the United States and be used to help your neighbors and friends. We have asked the club members several times if they wanted to chose another charity, but the Red Cross continues to be their favorite. I like that we can earmark the money for the USA disaster fund which helped people in the midwest when there was flooding, on the coast during hurricanes, in the West for earthquakes and most recently NY/NJ/DC for the 9-11 attacks. Despite the uproar over nothing when the Red Cross wanted to divert some of the excess funds donated during that event to other US needy causes (not to pad administrators pockets) the Red Cross continues to be a great way to help your fellow SHO owner and neighbor.

As to other convention fees, we used to charge extra for NON-SHO Club members, but don't anymore. We hint that it would be nice if you belonged to the club, but we don't require it.

We don't get a penny of support from Ford and don't really want it, this way we get to do what WE want instead of what the company wants, and they had their hand in some of the early conventions rather heavy as a matter of fact.

We work hard to keep costs down, but it is a true vacation and any profits (most years are break even or a loss) go back to help the next year. Once in a while we get a bit of local sponsor money, but most businesses just donate some nice door prizes.

My wife and I do most of the work for each convention and local people/friends/my kids, also help a lot, but we try to make it so even Jan and I can enjoy ourselves.

I hope everyone will plan on coming to SHO International Convention #11 in Madison Wisconsin this coming July (exact dates TBA) where we will once again amaze people by enjoying our SHO"s more than the average sedan owner!

Sorry, for the mis-leading statement. I was typing and lost my cable service and forgot about this post.

The ShoClub is a VERY good organization. We finally have a president that really cares about us. Don really comes up with interesting things to do and makes the Conventions entertaining for the whole "SHO" family.

As for donating, I really enjoyed spending money at the silent auction for some great gear and for a worthy cause.
