hey I am getting rust just behind the rear wheel on both side at the corner of the metal quarter panel right where it meets the fiberglass panel.
while its small i want to fix them. they have gone throught the paint and are showing metal. is this a common problem or could it be a result of some thing else. i have no rust anywhere else so i would like to eliminate this. ounce the weather warms up i plan ot sand down the paint and rust till i get good metal and then paint back up to level with other paint but don't want to let the paint get to the inside of any panels. any suggestions would be helpfull

Oh so common. I'm afraid that once you've got rust you'll always have it. It's like cancer...you can remove it, but most of the time it comes back unless you do a complete restoration. If you were to take off the body cladding, you'd be astounded at what you'll find under there. I, for one, don't even want to know. :( I know it's there...poor girl.

Beth is right. The only way to get rid of it is to cut out the suspected panel and replace it or seal the rust with undercoated. That is, if you want undercoating on the outside of the car. :)

A fun (yeah right) spring project of mine is to grind down the inside of all the door and undercoat them.
