Offset Wheels and Tires

Hey All!

My first post on here, but I'm just looking to get a couple more thoughts and such on staggering wheels and tires on my 2016 Taurus SHO PP. I'm wanting to get some Niche Misano M119, link attached, with some Nitto Motivo All- Season tires, also attached. My wheel size would be 20x9 in front and 20x10 in the back with 255 45ZR 20s up front and 275 40ZR 20s in the rear. I've seen and read other SHOs with this staggering, but I wasn't really sure on how much of a difference on the speedometer it would make. Any thoughts on how to recalibrate the speedometer with cost? I'm also lowering it with H&R Springs when I get the wheels and tires as well, if that makes any difference.

Why do you have change the speedometer? Tiresize.com notes there will be a 1 mph difference at 100.

Just because you change the tire doesn't mean the O.D. changes.

I bet the O.P. figured this out.... I hope.

Seems borderline ricer at this point... These cars are FWD probably 90% of the time. Also this kills tire rotation and would you even try a spare tire? Idk maybe I'm just a natural born a$$h0le. Spend the money on hpfp, turbos, intercooler, nitrous, women, or something useful.

I've had my staggered setup for nearly a year and I LOVE it. It looks so good on a big car like this. Compliments and stares all the time. Ever since I had my 7 series BMW, I was hooked on the staggered stance. Then my Lexus LS460 got the same treatment and now my SHO. Speedometer change is minimal and inconsequential...at least to me.

None. That's so close to stock you won't notice it.

Just run 275's on all 4. Rotating is no problem.

Best to keep the OD of the tires the same. 245/45/20 for the front and 275/40/20 for there rear ( suggestion, 20x8.5 front and 20x9.5 rear). Front and rear tires will be the same height, and also the same as stock. Even if you go up to 255/45/20 your speedometer would be no more then 1 mph off, and that's at speed you probably would be doing on the track anyway. The main concern about tires on AWD is to have the front and rear tires the same rolling diameter. It is not advised to have the front or rear tires taller then the other. This is for rotation purposes, and also due to the computer and its programing for traction control. Some people have gotten away with it and some not. This setup should give your tires some lip, and not be overstretched. Thats if you like the no-stretch look, some people like stretched tires. This set up also maximizes the tire contact patch vs stretched tires.

You could also go 275/40/20 all around with the right offset. Its not skinny/wide staggered, but you could get the rears more offset to make the frot and rear look flushed, and this will also be affected by your rear camber. With stock set up and rear camber, you probably could go with a 5-10mm offset difference in the rear to get the f/r flush look.
