In about three to four weeks I will be moving to FL (Coral Springs) from Connecticut... of course driving my SHO down. Going to school to be a paramedic/fire fighter. I would like to get involved in an SHO club down there, I was just wondering where you guys usually meet and where you are from, all that good stuff…

Keeping my SHO is often a labor of love, rather expensive to maintain at times. I know a little but would enjoy hanging out with other SHO owners and learning a bit. I’m the guy who sees an SHO (especially a gen 1 or 2) and chases after it honking and waving. I know a dork.

If you guys want to give me the low down on your club that would be awesome!

Thanks

Hi! Well... we're pretty spread out all over the state and up into Georgia. 3 (soon to be 4) of us live in Jacksonville. Since we are so spread out, we don't really have regular meets, but manage to get together with each other every few months for events or just to hang out. If you're here by July 23rd, I'm hosting a little get-together for those of us poor southern folks that can't afford to drive to Indy for the convention this year!

Cool, you will like it down here. The winters will be nothing for ya. If you have winter tires laying around, sell them. We only get rain in the winter!!!

Well, have a safe trip and hope to see ya soon.

Welcome to Florida and the club. Becareful of who you chase and honk to down here. It's amazing how fast people pull triggers here. Not trying to scare you, just friendly advice. :thumb: Mike

The rain isn't really random. It's everyday. Speaking of rain, I better go out and get some stuff done. It's about to rain.

ANYWAY... yeah we have rainfall every afternoon at 3pm. Or at least that's how it is up here in Jax. Might be a different time elsewhere, but it's every day at the same time!

I maybe possiably moving to FL. soon also.
Down in Lakeland where Ray lives, Only with my father intil I get settled in.
I dont know if i could stand not having a SHO meet like we do up here atleast once a month durring the nice season.**** i drive 3 hrs to the town where the meet is hang out at my friend Nicks house (slickn56) then head off to the meet in the AM. I dont know if you all dont live SHO's as much as us up here ,but wouldnt you make it work for the sake of somthing we all have in common. Not trying to be an A$$ just dont see why people down there dont take a sunday ( when 95% of people dont have to work) planning it a month in advance so nothing will get in its way and meet... whats so hard about that? IS there not enough people with in a 3-4 hr drive to have a meet? If so i guess this post is for nothing.. I know up here i drive from Maine to Mass. there are people who drive from Ct. to Mass. NY to Mass. just for the meets once a month.
If i come down. there's going to be/have/hopefully will be alot more meets, if i have to once i get down there ( Depending on upcomming fundage) ill organize evey meet, but everyone is going to have to be willing to contribute, either that or you guys just artn as passionate (sp) about meeting other SHO owners and having something in common with someone as most every other club is about there passion.
either way you should see me at 95% of the get togethers u have down there. Once i get thre of course :thumb:

EDIT: Seems i came across as kind of an ***** didnt mean to. Dont think im that way plz

There are probably 10 members here in FL and GA. We are spread out from the panhandle to Miami. Us members that are close to each other do get together more than the club meets. FYI most people here do work weekends and even when we do plan a meet a month out, not everyone can come whether it is work related or car related. Also most of the SHOs here do not have functioning AC and thats the way they will remain because it is not everyones daily driver or is too expensive to fix. Just imagine driving 3 hours in 90 degree weather with our humidity.

We would love to get together more often, but there is just too little members and too many miles seperating us. When Tara and I formed the club with the help of many others we realized this and made it a point to do it every 3 months.

We love our SHOs and we do contribute to keep the club and website (www.fshoc.com) up and running. Once you get down here you will find that our yearly fee of $5 is small, but does the job. Tara (shogirl1994) even took the time to get excellent decals made for members for a mere $5 each as well.

We would love more members, but until we do, our meets will never be once a month. Your best bet is to find as many members in your area so you can hang out, fix SHOs, ect...

Yeah, I am not driving all the way up to Jacksonville to have a small SHO meet, thats probably like 10hrs for me. Florida is a pretty long state. I was 1hr away from the SHO meets when I lived in Michigan, and still people wouldnt drive to those meets that often.. Our cars arent that reliable to count on to drive so many hours every month. at least mines not.

6 hours. ;) I bought my 89 in Naples, it made it all the way home! hehe
Not all our meets are in Jax either. Actually we've never had one in Jax, we had the dyno and the Mustang show in St. Augustine.

My SHO last yr i drove From Maine to FL. no A/C black leather interior no tint, hott as ****... whats the big deal? roll down the windows and drive? i was there in July of last yr sweating my **** off and ******** the hole time. i was there for 3 weeks. When i go down with my new one, i wont have AC and i wont get it fixed either. and it is my DD...wont bother me none, only reason it wouldnt come down is if i decide to sell it and buy a truck so help transport stuff..
I didnt relize there was only about 10 actual Florida/GA and surronding area SHO owners, thats not many at all.... wich i can understand no matter what your prolly not going to have over 5 ppl there. wich over all to many ppl prolly wouldnt be wurth it
I was hopeing the FSHOC would be alot more active with alot more members as there are up here.. one of the only thing that keeps me in a car that breaks down once a month.. when i could just get a 100% reliable new one.. but i love it thats why i stay for now with the support we have up here for em'.

Didnt mean to step on ANY toes at all. like i said i didnt relise there were so few members from such a very populated state.
sorry :thumb:

Oh  I was close I guess  I have seen 3 other SHO's down here, one gen 2 at a bank (their work) a white gen 1, and a red gen 3. No one on the forum though..
