Holy cow, some one new posting in the introduction forum? Shocking!!!!

So I couldn't think of a title.

Anyway my name's Jason, I'm 21, photographer, musician, and avid car guy. After a few failed years of trying to keep various turbo Dodges running (last car was a Spirit running 15psi that died a year ago and I still can't get running) I moved back to my first love of fords. Having not driven in almost a year since my DD merc Cougar died too, I happened to get lucky in the local cars.com ads and found a nice Taurus SHO for $2,000. Besides a spot on the wheel well it's totally rust free, and came with a book cataloging all maintenance ever performed. It's at a youthful 168,000, and all it needs is an AC recharge, parking brake cable, an exhaust seal, and a window motor.

Not quite as gutsy as my old Spirit, but it gets the job done and looks damn good doing it. I think I'm in love

Welcome to the forum. Good looking car you got there. If the lack of boost gets you down there are quite a few members on here that run turbos or superchargers on their SHOs. Just make sure all the maintenance is done first. Again, welcome!

Thanks. Haha "All it needs" is a very loose term when working with a 15 year old car ain't it? But to be honest pretty much all the bases for stock maintenance have been covered. I know very little about the SHO engine so I'm gonna leave it alone for a while. One thing I do know, it would sound really sweet with a full 2.5 inch exhaust. Right now because of the bad seal on one side, it has a lawn mower thing going on, so I named it Snapper.

Oh one thing I forgot to add to the list. The shifter's kinda sloppy. I'm thinking it could use some new bushings. I tried to inspect them, but I couldn't even see the transmission. How the **** do people cram twin turbos on these things?

Welcome in ,

You will rarely see twin turbos on the GEN1-2-3 , but many people made it happen with one , usually located where the stock airbox is. There's also one that has a remote turbo hidden behind the rear bumper. If you do a litlle search on the forum , you will find plenny of infos and pics.

Welcome! Looks identical to the car I just picked up. Is it a 94 or 95? You already have a head start in the weight saving department as it looks like a base (light weight) model.

It's a 1995. What's the difference? It has dual power seats, premium sound, fog lamps, auto headlights and whatnot. What more did they add?

That's right the keypad! I forgot those things existed. And yeah no sunroof. Any other stuff? I did a google search and came up with nothing. Either way it's still better equipped than any other car I've had (besides my talking dash lebaron, but this car has a floor) I finally got on to the highway at open throttle. Torque steer is pretty manageable, and this car hauls balls! Holy shit.

i hate to be the one to break it to you, but it's unlikely it'll ever sound sweet. i'm running 2.5" from the y-pipe back into a single 40 series flowmaster and safe to say, it sounds like shit. in the 10 years i've been around these cars, i've heard maybe 3 that actually sounded good. but them red 95s...they sure do look pretty, don't they?

95 is the last year they made a 5 speed SHO so that makes them somewhat desirable. You can email Ford to request a free buildsheet of what delivered on your car if you are interested. You just need to provide them your vin number.

I'm not expecting it to sound like a 5.0 mustang or anything like that. It's just a 3.0, but I like the sound. The mild roar of a V6 tops the bumble bees of a 4 banger. Even with one bad muffler seal, I think it's still not a bad sounding car. The engine does sound a little ugly in the higher RPMs though. Sounds a surprising lot like a lawnmower.

Welcome to the forum . It won't be long before that 1 SHO turns into 2 ... Then 2 and a parts car ... All downhill from there :)

Leave that shit stock and it'll sound fine.

Interior looks pretty clean, and I think the outside will clean up decent.

Thanks, but I'm afraid The paint job's a 20 footer. It's got a lot of scratches, but most of them will probably buff out.
