Hey everyone. y name is Jim. My first car was a 95 Taurus base model 12 years ago. I just purchased a 93 Taurus SHO last week and im hooked. My high school friend had a SHO and i was in love with it. Countless times he waxed mustangs, camaros and imprezas. My car is a 5 speed flawless car with 154k miles. I am doing the bigger brakes this weekend and will start fabricating a 3" exhaust. Love this car and plan to keep it for a long time. I hope to learn a lot from this forum and would love to hear any input on good, cheap mods that will make my car faster without going forced induction.

Welcome! My daily driver is a Silver/Black 92

I would recommend that all the maintenance is done before starting mods. Do you have records of the service history on the car?

The car is a two owner vehicle with a 2" thick book of records. I will be going through them page by page to see what's done and what need to be done. I'm praying the 60K was done because I already know how crucial that is.

So I went through every document and the results are amazing. The car has had the 60K, had oil changes every 3000 miles with synthetic. Aftermarket clutch installed @134K. Starter, new tires, fluids flushed every 30K, belts, plugs, wires, etc at 131K. Brakes all around at 121K. The previous owners cherished this car. I'm so relieved.

So it has had the front AND the top 60K done, every 60K? That would be SWEET!

You found a well maintained car, good find. Time to start the mods!

Did the previous owner keep the car stock other than the aftermarket clutch?

It's bone stock just some dark tint which is paying off in the Georgia heat. The one issue with the car is the AC circulating fan is broke. So I'll be fixing that asap. I would love a short shift kit but that may take time to fabricate. Changing gears is less shifting and more rowing. (Tho I raced a gen 1 mx5 for a year and was spoiled by the short throw and crisp gear changes). I will be running the intake into the wheel well if possible for some cold air and will get the high flow Y pipe to some 3" tail pipes to maximize the amazing Yamaha purr.
