Hello. My name is Matthew.

I've been driving my 95 ATX SHO around for a while now, with some serious issues. And an 89 MTX car dropped into my lap about 2 weeks ago. I traded a set of old mustang wheels for it. Thing barely runs. But I figured I'd join this forum as to get access to some insight to some of the issues these cars have.

Planning on pulling the engine and whatnot out of the 95, and putting them into the 89 - as I like the body style and the car a lot better.

I work on cars night and day, love this stuff.

Greetings, and I look forward to talking to you guys soon.

Welcome to SHOforum, Matthew, and "congrats" on the new acquisition. Hope the 89 gets a good revival :)

Give us an idea of what "thing barely runs" means.

The 95 - Had something to which I would normally call a crank position sensor. Would start and run after sitting for a bit. But would normally cut the tach and die out while driving.

The 89 - cranks and cranks - has spark across all of the wires, and a good strong one at that. Great compression. All indicators point to cam sensor.

As of this morning the 89's engine has the top end torn apart, getting ready to take the engine out. Gonna pull the 3.2 next week as to start the process of doing the 60k on a stand, and a complete re gasket/refresh.
