Welcome to the forum, and congrats! Motorcraft syn blend 5W30 + Motorcraft oil filter + 5-7.5K mile OC interval should keep your SHO running well if you drive your SHO more like a DD than a performance car. If you like to step on it, then you should look into upgrading the oil you use, but the filter and OC interval can stay the same. You'd be looking for a quality, low volatility full synthetic engine oil (5W30) at that point. Periodic UOAs (used oil analysis, such as from Blackstone Labs) would also benefit you to see how your SHO is doing.

What all options does your SHO have, what color? Details on the Gen I also, please :)

Hello psouch,
Most here will say Motorcraft synthetic blend.
A very good friend worked for Shell Oil and said their tests showed Quakerstate was superior.
I use Q in everything except my SHO. If I needed oil change in my SHO and could not get MSB.
I would put in the Quakerstate.
I have 500.000+ on two Ford V10 6.8L in my E350 vans using Q....

Bronze Fire with Driver Assist package. It was a factory buyback car with 3500 miles on it for 31K It's a lot of car for the $ My first SHO I believe was a 1995 Silver. Drove it to 130K These are daily drivers as I am on the road sales. Is the oil in my new car synthetic?

Love those Bronze Fires! Not to say that Ford doesn't have some pretty awesome paint schemes for the SHO/MKS lineup :) but this color is my favorite. I only wish Kona Blue were still available. My '95 was an extremely rare green ATX ;)

The oil in your SHO should be MC synthetic blend 5W30, assuming it has not been serviced. Nowadays, there's no breakin oils thanks to better production quality and breakin time at the factory.

As far as Quaker State, I would run their Ultimate Durability product if I were going for that. WalMart has pretty darned good prices, I think $22 for 5 quart jug. 10K as a daily driver should be a no-brainer OC interval.

I use Amsoil full synth in all vehicles; motor oil, gear oil, trans oil. It outperforms all others overall in numerous ASTM tests. If you pay for a 1 year membership, you get a discount that pays for itself first purchase. Signature series Amsoil has 25k oil change intervals, but I change it out at 12k.

I did a post Tune Pre DYNO mid cycle oil change and even though I was only around 14K I used Valvoline High Mileage Synthetic Blend. Normally Synthetic but this was a Mid Cycle Change so will only go around 2-3K Bosch Filter from AutoZone.

I wish I had used a real synthetic from the beginning.
I let the dealer use their Motorcraft blend for the first 60k miles. I just switched to Amsoil last year. I think, due to the high heat from turbos, the EcoBoost needs pure synthetic. IMHO
Interesting that several other makes, like Toyota in their regular V6, have moved to full synthetic.

Might be for other reasons, but full synthetics just increase the amount of design headroom engineers have to play with. They need all they can get for the ever-tightening EPA noose *ack* *ack* *ack*
