Is the mass airflow sensor in a gen 1 not supposed to have wires and resistors in it? This is what mine looks like

If you want to clean the sensor you have to spray into that hole. Good luck.

If you want to clean the sensor better, you can use a security Torx bit (with the hole in the middle), and then pull the black sensor straight up and out. At the end is two fragile bare wires you shouldn't touch, but instead spray with CRC mass airflow sensor cleaner in a can. Shake off the excess before it dries.
