I know this topic has been discussed in detail and I did a search on the subject, but I don't understand what people refer to as " ... pull the sensor out and clean the crud off it ..."

I have removed the coolant bottle when I put in a new radiator - unplug both the electical connector and the hose from the radiator pressure relief cap from the bottle and pull the bottle up.

But now what do you do get at the sensor? I've tried to take the black cap off the coolant bottle but it wouldn't unscrew and I felt I was going to brake something as I tried to "pop" it off or force it off.

The coolant bottle cap lifts a little bit and you can screw it both clockwise and counter clockwise about 1/4 of a turn before it stops due to some obstruction.

The cap on the coolant bottle reminds me of he tamper resistant plastic containers for drugs from the pharmacy (or wherever eek! ).

Am I missing something simple? :(

Any advice appreciated. :D

Marccus, there should be a way to remove the top of the overflow bottle. I think the top is a two piece thing that can be seperated, and if it isn't it should pop off without breaking if you do it carefully.
