Finally got this one done. I had to crack open the housings with a band saw as they are sonic welded. I then swapped the bulb out for an LED bulb that was a direct fit, and patched them back together with some rubber instant gasket maker. No working pics but just a final for you guys to see how much nicer it makes the car look.

Looks good, but are you saying that if the bulb burns out, there is no way to replace it without damaging the mirror?

No, you just have to pull out the housing the same way and crack it open which will be alot easier seeing as its only rubber holding it together this time and not plastic.

The light assembly is separate from the entire side mirror. It slides down from the whole mirror and is a little 1 inch by 1 inch dome that holds the bulb.

Do you still get a fading effect when they turn on and off? Any chance you can take better pictures?

Yes, I still get the fade. I will see if I can get some better pics tomorrow or Friday. Its hard to get a nice shot at night.
