And because my search finger is not working, what are the RWD automatic transmission options for a SHO motor and are they remotely adaptable to a Toyota transfer case through either many bolts and screws or deep south Louisiana style voodoo, cause I have lots of each of those.

Why ask such a silly question? Because it's Friday and there's been no activity here forever.

Troy,

ALL of the trannies that bolted to the 3.0 Vulcan, will bolt directly to the SHO block. That being said, there is the A4LD automatic and M-50D1 5 speed from Mazda. Of course if you have the Cannfield adaptor, any transmission that bolted to the 5.0/5.8 block will bolt up also.

And it's still Friday.

and keep in mind that none of those auto trans will hold up particularly well behind a SHO motor unless they are rebuilt as stout as you can build them. they were all designed for engines with half the power and a third less torque than the SHO has.

And a torque converter that only went to 4500 rpm's.

I wasn't really thinking, per se. Just more like watching words come out of my fingers without passing through my brain first.

I've still got a 3.2 for my car, but then I'd have a perfectly good 3.0 still littering up my garage. I've also been baby sitting a built 5.0/C4/Dana20 for a buddy of mine who is never going to pick it up. A 400HP small block seems silly in my old 4Runner, but the 95HP 22R actually is silly, so I figured a SHO motor would split the difference nicely. BUT, there are probably several other motor swaps way more fitting, like a Lexus V8 or the quad cam Toyota 3.4, which is a GREAT motor.

Anyway, picking a motor for a swap because it happens to be laying around is the absolute worst reason to use that motor. And I have a real hard time justifying a motor swap in something with a running motor and since 22Rs run only slightly less long than the sun, I should just move onto something else.

Like replacing all the tie rods and steering arms in my wife's Suburban.

It's Saturday and that's what I'll be doing with my Sunday.

I vote for the Toyota 3.4, and then add the supercharger.

While I have your attention...Troy...Troy?....Troy! Over here. Now focus. Are you still wanting a Locost frame? I've got a line on a basic frame that was jig built and brazed, for 150.00 in Tucson.

Want? Yes. Need? No. Honestly, it'd just sit around for 4 years rusting before I found the time and energy to give up on the project.

Vehicular ADHD sucks. The ideas come, you waste money on parts and then you realize something else new and shiny is over there.

I need to break the curse and finish a project.

BTW, I did the steering stuff on Sunday. I picked up the Harbor Freight air operated grease gun and love it. I don't love that I cracked the manifold on my 15 year old Chinese air compressor, rendering it basically useless, but now I have an excuse to go buy a belt drive unit and quiet down the garage some.
