Anyone have an idea on what a new one of these costs? Mine had suddenly quit working on me and the car would not start for a couple of days until I talked to some people and they mentioned to check it out. I just took it off and cleaned it with brake cleaner and put it back on and it started like nothing was ever wrong with it. It should be okay for a while but I know I will have to replace it sooner or later. Anyone else have this problem and is it common? Car has 133,000 on it.
Any input would be appreciated, thanks guys!!

About $80. The TPS connector sometimes gives people trouble on these cars. Might want to check it out.

What is the TPS, and where is it located? Are you saying that it could be that instead of the IAC? How can you really tell which one is the problem or can't you? This is really the first time I have ever had to touch anything under the hood on this car so I am just going off of what I hear from people and what I read on the SHO websites. Thanks for your input!!

Well, if the cleaning the IAC fixed the problem, I'm not sure I would mess with the TPS connector, now that I think about it. The TPS is the Throttle Position Sensor. It is the small black box on the front part of the throttle body (facing you as you look at the engine.) Sometimes a bad connection at the TPS, or a faulty TPS itself, can make the engine idle surge or "search" for the right rpm to sit at. It is easy enough to replace, and much cheaper than the IAC, so if you have these symptoms, sometimes it's easier to just replace the $25 TPS and clean the connectors than to gamble on the $80 IAC.

I had a bunch of problems and I ended up replacing both the TPS and IAC, as well as the crank and cam position sensors... in the end I think it was just a loose wire somewhere. :madflame:
