My sho has been down for about a week.

Thanks in advance forum.

Ok your control arms are rusted to the bolts i would go out and get some good penetrating lub. and spray the bolts down with it. Then wait a day or so and try to get them off again. You could also try to remove the bolts from the other side of the control arm and see if they come off. But you might need to cut the bolts off and get new bolts. If you need any other info just ask.

no there is no special tool to remove the control arms off of the spindle. As for penetrating lub go to a parts store PB blaster it is what i used and a hammer to get mine off but you will need to get a new bolt if you damage the threads. Other wise you could just cut the bolt off and get a new one and a new bushing.

I would not really try but you might be able to get a small puller to get it off but you could damage the control arm.

After you get that nut off, is the bolt threaded to the control arm?

No, the nut is the only thing that is threaded onto that bolt. In a perfect,,,read: rust-free,,,world the arms would slide right off, and the bolts would also slide right out of the spindle. The bushing has 3 parts,,,the outer steel sleeve that is pressed into the arm, the rubber part, and an inner steel sleeve. The bolt goes thru, and is in direct contact with the inner steel sleeve. It is also solidly rusted to it. That inner sleeve looks like a small pipe, and appears to be a solid piece,,but it is actually a flat piece of steel that was "wrapped around the bolt" and has a tiny slit where the ends meet. It is not a solid piece of steel that goes all the way around the bolt. You need to scrape some of the rust off and find the crack where the ends meet. Then get a small screwdriver blade and pound it into that crack, thus expanding the inner sleeve to free it from the bolt. Being under the car, its a real knuckle buster, and don't plan on using that screwdriver again. As for the part of the bolt stuck in the spindle,,cut it off and drill it out. Chances are its rusted in so tight you'll break the spindle before you can pound it out.
Have fun, this is not an easy job.

how much would a brand new spindle cost?

A lot. Get a used one at a salvage yard. You will still have to deal with removing the control arms,,sorry,, no shortcuts allowed!!!!
Now our turn to ask questions,,,,,Why do you feel the need to replace the splindle???? It's kind of rare for them to fail.

Because the bolt just seems kind of hard to get out. There is a drill bit broken inside of the bolt. Could a muffler shop use there torch and blow the bolt out?
