I'm not going to be able to make it. I've stacked too many things on one weekend.

Edit: I'm free for this Saturday now, so I'll be there with The Other Woman and my Main Woman.

Mikey, are you coming down the hill for this?

As cool as this event is and as much as I want to attend, I have some other stuff to do this weekend and would preclude me from going. I would have to drive 4 hours to Tucson, drag for 3 or 4 hours then head back up the hill 4 hours to get back in time for my commitment the morning.

Tucson Get Together

Glad to hear the SHO buggy will be there. I really have to check this one out. The 1990 Garage Queen SHO will be getting a dusting off for this event. It is amazing how dust does get on a car after sitting around for a few months in a sealed up garage. The wife will be driving the SHO and I will bring something else if I don't run out of energy before I get that one cleaned up. We should be there when the gates open and since I don't know anyone, just look for a plain white stock 90 SHO. I was only planning on getting in to watch and don't want to do any show car stuff, but let me know if this is what will be required to be with the rest of the SHO's. If that is the case then I will pay the extra charges.

I don't plan on racing TOW. I heard from Troy that SIR is a very sticky track and I don't want to tear up a 5,000.00 dollar transaxle on asphalt. So I'll just enjoy the SHOw. I've got to see my future garage queen also. :thumb:

The Garage Queen won't be for sale for a long time and the wife is going to make sure I don't sell it. This old SHO is still a very good car even by today's standards and although we have been looking at the new Pontiac GTO, the SHO is still a great car to take trips in. They arn't giving GTO's away either, so I have to wait to get the money for this deal to happen.

What kind of transaxle do you have in this buggy?

It's a Mendeola MD4E. It uses mostly VW Bus gear sets but with a larger ring and pinion.

But I might take her down the track once or twice.

Hey guys, sorry for the late response... I was wondering how far Tucson was from Avondale, and what I would have to donate?

I am not sure if my car would pass tech inspection for drag racing (due to various problems), but I'd love to go.

For the guys going to Tucson, any chance of us meeting up and going down together I would love to drive down in a sport caravan og SHO's. Anybody have any thought's on the idea. I'm already close to the I-10 and the 143, 202 so I can get to most places pretty easily. Also does anybody know whats included in the race inspection, I'm running pretty good right now but if I had to tweak something before I go I would love for a heads up.

I am going to the meet! Yes, time to wash the car (stupid rain)

I would love to drive down in a caravan of SHO's. I live on Avondale Blvd off the I 10. I pass the 101 twice and all of the 202s, also the 51 and 60. Don't know of a good place to meet as I am new to the area. Just tell me where you want to meet and what time and I'll be there.

What do I have to donate, and where, and when?

Virg,

I don't know exactly when we're heading down, but I'm almost 100% sure we will be stopping at that Cracker Barrel near Casa Grande for lunch. I'll try and pin the Mistress down and find out.

The tracks I've gone to in the past vary on rules, but just in case:

bring a helmet if you have one just in case this track requires it. most dont, but if you have one it cant hurt. Usually if you are like a 12 second car you have to have a helmet, but this is AZ, who knows.

Also bring long pants and covered shoes as some dont let you race in shorts and flipflops.

Sorry I cannot go, but I gave my word I would help these folks out this weekend and it would just be hard to do both.

Okay,

The Mistress isn't going so we can stop for lunch at ******* now. <whack!> Ow! That hurt. Okay then, Cracker Barrel it is.

How about if we meet at the one at I-10 and Chandler Blvd. That way no one has to go too far east. Say about 11:00 AM? One hour for lunch, two hours to Houghten road. Everybody okay with that?

Tom, I'm up for that and I'll let DVJ38 know if he doesn't catch this posting on the board. You need to learn to duck your head a little faster too....lol Talk to you later.

Sounds great to me. Don't know where the "cracker barrell" is, but I'll find it Also I'll PM my cell to you guys so if 11 rolls by and I'm not there yet you can help me locate it. I'm generally fine with finding things though. See you tomorrow!

Had a great time down there last night. Wow, there are a lot of Mustangs in Tucson! Thanks for the invite Mike57chevy, you have a very nice facility there at SIR.

03 CopperBusa, it was nice meeting you and your lovely wife, hope you can make it up to Phoenix this winter. I'd love to see her again (that beautiful 90 SHO garage queen that is :salute: :salute: :salute: ). Mikey, you won't believe the condition of this car.

I even took The Other Woman down the track once but didn't do very well (they wouldn't let me drive in the dirt on the side of the track). Either I had massive clutch slippage or when I tried to drive around the burn-out puddle, I got one of the tires wet. She just revved like crazy in 1st and 2nd; was immediately bouncing off the rev limiter in both gears. I think I was into third within 200 feet. Then either the tires dried out or the clutch decided to hold and gave me some good acceleration. Finished with a 14.042 @ 102.86 Amazing motors.

We need to do some AZ SHO Club meets at Firebird Raceway this winter, I had a blast.

Speed World works for me also. We can alternate to get some of the Eastside guys one meet and the Westside guys the next.
