this is the email i got from the seller (cobra wheels for a tbird:

The wheels will not work because the off set of the wheel is wrong, the SHO is front wheel drive and the tbird is rear wheel drive

Regards,
Downs Motorsports / TheFordSource.com

then......

they fit 89-97 tbirds, the bolt pattern is 5 on 4.5 and back space is
5.57

Is it worth the $700 new??????? and will they fit?

t-birds dont have a 5x4.5 pattern, they have 5x4.25, same as the taurus. A 17x9 wheel wont fit too well as it is too wide, but the 17x7 version fits nicely. I dont know what the 5.57 back spacing means, because that equates to 141mm. Check back with him for more info, seems like those arent for a t-bird at all

Drive wheels have nothing to do with fitment. What's the offset and width for the wheels you're considering?

Yes, if they really do fit on the T-bird, they will fit on the SHO.

Just make sure they aren't from a 'Stang.

Good luck...those SVT wheels look bad-ass on a SHO thumb

Sure guys ........ keep rubbing it in that i'm looking for a set and everyone has one that they don't want to sell. madflame

J/K .... thumb

On a side note ~

Mustang SVT rims = 4.5 (17x9)
Thunderbird SVT rims = 4.25 (17x7) also fit Taurus, Volvo, and a few Lincolns

2 totally different rims or i would be putting my chromes on my 92 Bird.

if you could squeeze 17x9s under a Taurus, i know where to get a set of silver SVT Bird rims for $545. polished - 665, chrome-785. they have 36mm offset

Chris,

Do you have 13" brakes in the rear? Your setup really fills out the space behind the wheels and looks great.

Has anyone been able to fit 17x9s on the SHO? I know folks have been able to run 245s on 8 inch rims. I would love to have nine inch rims.

Those wheels are awesome. thumb
Wish I had some money for a set.

Ok, question...

Is it true there is a difference between rims for front wheel drive cars and rims for rear wheel drive cars? Why is there a clear differentiation in all the catalogs?

because most RWD cars have a different offset than FWD cars. The Tbird and SHO share the same offset though. And yes, there is one person on here with the 17x9's, but with the spacers needed it sticks the wheel wayyyy out.
