Does anybody out there have blueprints for aluminum sfb's? Or a link to them?

I know they've been posted on this forum, but have exhausted my creative search definitions.

Also - any other cool high-tech materials I could consider to fab them from? I'm a little nervous about excessive vibration - I like my silent highway missile...

Thanks!

umm unless you have your own machine shop to make them in, it's alot cheaper to buy a set from me (hit the email button above) or from Josh@shonut www.shonutperformance.com both are proven designs, and loads of them sold.

when I talked to the machine shop I use to just make one set on the CnC would have cost me about $120. Which really makes it pointless to go thru the hassels of getting the measurements and then having a set made.

But if you really want to do it yourself, you'll want to use T-6061 aluminum bar stock. Others have talked about steel, and others have used delrin though I've heard that the delrin can crack and needs retourqing now and then. Steel would transmit more vibration to the car, and you have to consider rust. Aluminum dosent' really rust (well it oxidizes a little but that layer actually protects the stuff below) where as rust on steel will make the bushings "wear out" as they rust smaller. Plus AL SFB's weigh in at about 5.5 lbs for shipping, I'd hate to think of what steel ones would be. (~20lbs?)

I didn't notice any new noise from my bushings and I have a fairly done up suspension/chassis (dips on driveways means one wheel might be in the air for a second) and I find the improved feedback very nice, course I can estimate the size of the expansion cracks in pavement but the sound my tires make as they pass over them, but all in all it's not bad. If you live in an area of really poor roads it might not be as nice. But all that is throw aside the first time you make a sudden input on the wheel, responds instantly, and that to me would have been worth some road noise :) and I'm sure there are other out there that would aggree.

I'm sure someone out there has a mechanical drawing out there like I've got. I'd give you mine, but that leaves me open to new competition, so I can't be having that :)

I searched for "SFB Dimensions" and found this:

They come in 2 pieces.Part one if you look at it from the side, looks like a "T",because it has a "tower" cut on it.Part two has a "dish" cut into it that the "tower" fits into. That being said, here you go:
Part 1:
3" rod.Overall height is 1.400,machined on both sides.The tower is 2.06 dia,and is .400 tall.There is a 13/64th`s(.484)thru hole in the center.
Part 2:
3" rod.Overall height is 1.1,machined on both sides. The "dish" is 2.067 dia.,and is .400 deep. There is a 13/64th`s(.484)thru hole in the center of it also.

My only question is on the hole size, I assume that you meant to type 31/64th's not 13!

Well would ya look at that ;-)

I tried specs, specifications, aluminum sfb, all kinds of combos, but I did not try "dimensions."

Thanks!

But upon further careful consideration, I'm pretty sure I will buy some from netviper - support the little guy, you know?

Soon, grasshopper, very soon. I'll want to knock that out while I've got it in the air this winter for the 60K.
