I searched the posts.......can't seem to determine if I can use a headlamp mounting panel from a sable or other ' 93 taurus. Rockauto does show different part numbers for each, so.......

Thanks,

It's called a header panel.

The Taurus SHO and Sable interchange, but not Taurus - so it may be another error in their database between the SHO and non-SHO, which are numerous.

+1. The mounting locations for the headlights in a regular taurus are quite a bit different than in a SHO/Sable. Body wise, especially in the front end, the SHO is much more similar to a Sable.

Except for the bumper cover, the SHO has a SABLE front end...every piece is Sable: Bumper(not cover) fenders, header panel, headlights, corner lights...

Good luck finding a un-broken one!! Try e-bay too, the have new ones every so often for about $75-$90. If you find a used one to have shipped to you, make sure they pack the **** out of it! I got one off ebay, and it arrived wrapped in maybe 6' of celophane, both headlights attached, and broken in 4 pieces.

Fiberglassing FTW!!:thumb:

Thanks to all who posted here, I don't know what I'd do without this forum!
I might take you up on the used one, I'll check for a sable on my junkyard trip this weekend.
Odd though, is this part on rockauto the whole part for only $19.99:

Headlamp Mounting Panel
VARIOUS MFR Part # FO1220203 More Info {#F34Y8A284A}

My only caution with this one is that it is kinda flimsy. It won't hold your headlights true without a lot of wiggle or bounce. Maybe others have had better luck with this specific part, but the original Ford part is very rigid. The one I got from Rock Auto I put on another car I sold and put the one from that car onto mine. FWIW.

got it

I picked up the mounting panel from a nice sable, perfect match. Anyone know if black bumper core on front of sable is same for '93?
