Anybody know where I can get any of the obsolete parts for the head rebuild? Shims, rear timing chain, timing tensioner etc?

Thanks a ton

The shims are available through Ford, SHO NUT, other SHO specialist shops and even Yamaha bike shops. The timing chains and tensioners are also available through Ford, SHO NUT, FordPartsNetwork.com other SHO specialist shops. Have you looked for these parts yet? Just click on the SHO advertisers in the Forum's header.

I thought "timing chain" was referring to the timing belt doh I didn't even think about the shims being available through bike shops (since it's a 6 cyl bike engine).

There's no chance anybody's got an oil pump around, is there?

Unless the timing chains are damaged or the tensioner's rubbing blocks are worn down to the metal plate, they are certainly able to be reused.

I'm just looking for new parts, worst case scenario. Since I'm going to TT my engine, I need a 3.2L oil pump, new is best but I'd take a rebuild.

Your going to tt your engine? With a taurus? TT wont fit on the sho. The only tt sho is in a probe body. I hope you have a beefed up tranny...

FOR SHO:

So the engine bay can eat all the wrenches it wants but I can't fit a turbine in there? We'll see. The T28/T3 turbo I've found that I'm going to use are very small (stock Mitsu Eclipse GS-T)

if a TT can fit in a probe why not in a Taurus? His transaxle is almost identical to ours. He fit a turbo on his manifold with no problems, except the halfshaft had to be removed to service the tranny. He's the one that I'm getting the manifolds from.

As far as the tranny goes I've found a reproduction, not a reman, with a 4-puck clutch, 2600lb pressure plate, 9.5Lb flywheel, some wierd named LSD, I think he said DDR for $2400. If I don't want that one I can get a complete rebuilt tranny with all new gears, brass synchros and blockers, drain plug and quaife for $1800. so I'm looking that route though.

I'm fully aware this project isn't going to be cheap and I'm fully aware that I need suspension/braking upgrades but I'm working on the biggest obstacle first. The turbo engine will live on a stand 'til everything else is done including a brand new coat of paint EVERYWHERE (engine bay, door jambs, etc)

Know where I can find a 91+ spoiler that's not busted like mine?

I think this project is very doable and intend to follow it through (shoestring budget right now). I appreciate all the help and welcome comments, constructive or inspirational or helpful (that basically covers everything)

Brian
