I finaly got around to taking out my old viser shade. Well, I soaked it in Hot water, took all the cloth(Vynle?) off(it just peals right off). Then I sanded it with some fine grit sand paper, painted it flat black...... and I'm telling you... It looks so very sharp :D :D :D

I"M SO HAPPY

There are three screws in the front of it below the window. and three on each side of the track(which I don't even think you need to remove but i didi anyway). Basicly the thing you unscrew from the window kinda slides around after you unscrew it. So, just slide it back when you get it onscrewed and that alows the shade to be loose feeling... Its not really heald in place to good so kinds push down on one of the sides and jush up in the middle (gently bending the shade so it has room on one of the side to come out) and it just falls out....

And I thought I was gonna have to remove the whole window burn_out

I fogot to tell you guys... There is this crushed velvet feeling peace of material on the sides of the shade to let it move easyer... I fugured that I would buy some velcro and just use the soft side for it and put more of it on instead of having a little 2 inch long peace.

I would post pics, but I don't know where to post them, so if you want them , I will send them to you through E-mail

So you dropped it from the inside instead of taking out the glass from the top?

Here's the pics that were sent to me. He said he would try to send some from inside the car. Hopefully they show him taking the shade out.

This is how you take the sunshade out without takeing the window(you can do it in 5 minutes if not less):

1. Slide Sunshade all the way back so the window can be seen.
2. Unscrew the three screws on the front bottom of the actual window (they are spaced about 4 or so inches apart and are small in size).
3. Slide the rectangular rail back till its about 2 inches behind the opening of the sunroof.
4. Put the window in the "forward up" position.
5. Look at the Sunshade, there are only two little prongs that hang down in the rear area (one on each side, almost where the Sunroof opening ends). Press up in the middle of the sunshade while pulling down on the area where the prong is....
6. Its a little tricky getting it in and out... But nothing any of us can't do... Its more of a hands on (turn it a little this way, rotate it that slide here, move it there kinda thing).

But seriosly guys, it take probably 5 minutes to do it....

hey can you guys post this in sho Times?????

so happy.....Now I need to paint somthing else black to match it(seeing as though I have mocha interior  )

Well I started this project this afternoon. Just how long did you soak your shade? I've had it in hot water 30 mins and very little comes off. I put it back for about an hour and still the same. I'm going to let soak overnight to see how it comes out in the morning.

I have been taking pics to show the procedure. I will post them when done, probably Sunday. My daughter has her birthday party tomorrow.

I forgot to tell you..... TURN THAT WATER UP HOT MAN!!!!

as soon as the water temp started to fall and get luke warm it became difficult to take anything off..... it makes the material more plyable... But if that down work, you could always scrape it off then use some bondo to fill in the marks.... All of myn never did come off, there was always a little on, just not enough to change the texter of the shade. In the end I just sanded it really good.

I forgot to add, you have to go really slow in takeing the material off, try and keep it all in one peace, don't just go yanking it all off and expect to get it all off in about 10 minutes...Took me probably close to 3 hours....

If anybody wants me to preform this for them, I would do it for around $20+shipping, so if you're wanting to give up and don't mind loosing a few $ , just e-mail me and i'll send you my address...

Another good idea is to get some of that 3M reflective film and cover the inside of the sunroof, really cuts down on the heat coming through and looks great, can still see through it fine!

That's a GOOD idea Dave. I'm doing that today! It must have been at least 120 degrees in that car when I was reinstalling the visor.

Ladies and/or Gentlemen, can we have a round of applause for Mr. K-BL!?!? thumbs_u

I am one of the (un)fortunate few without a moonroof, and just seeing how the procedure works, and the after pics, makes me envious of those with the moonroof. I like not having it because of the weight, but man, I really do want one. I may end up getting just a regular plain-jane pop-up/ pop-out sunroof installed this summer. Kudos to you again K-BL!

Doesn't this just ooze of "Family" love? LOL.

Later!
