I thought I would add another topic to this section.

RI-SHO got me in gear to update my picture page. It has pics of my '99 with some of the modifications.

Enjoy...

Nice Pics. Is the glasspack where the 3rd cat was? Did you replace the mufflers because the OEMs wore out or just to alter the sound? At the moment I am fairly happy with my limited alterations. I might do the UDP one day. And I am still looking around for 7.5" wheels that I consider worth the money. In general, the car is surprisingly good stock (or near stock).

Stephen, I just sent you an email!

I bought this one with 7,500 on the clock. Mufflers went in the next day...purely for sound. The 3rd cat came out...but it was right up behind the flex pipe. The glasspack is farther back as you can sse on my pics page.

I probably should've left the third cat in but hindsight is always 20/20. Not that I'm complaining as I gained top end torque and hp in small amounts. It breathes better in the upper range. The glasspack was or is a cross between getting some extra low end backpressure but not losing the amount of sound the 3rd cat would take away. Its in the testing phase at this time.

Don't take out the 3rd cat....but look into an aftermarket set of mufflers. If not for anything but the V8 rumble...

Thanks Mark,

I think I will take your advice and leave the 3rd cat untouched. The muffler thing has made such noise on the email list that I would not dream of bringing it up again there. When summer rolls around and I can roll down the windows, I might give thought to more sound oriented mufflers. AFter all that stuff on the list, do you have any suggestions for just better sound but not altering much else (I am rather happy with the performance level I am at now and do not want to mess with it too much).

Well I am a little biased here but as for mufflers there are many many choices. Many on the email list have gone with the Bullets. If you want I'll send you an email of a audio/video shot of the Bullet mufflers. They sound good but they have a raspiness that my Rhino mufflers do not have.

There have been 2 others on the list that have gone with Rhinos and they seem to love them. Beautiful V8 sound with no raspiness. The video of the Bullets I could send is neat...but there is a definite raspiness that I felt I could live without. I took a chance on the Rhino's and couldn't have been happier.

No raspiness...just a deep rumble...all the way up and down the rpm curve.

Same price as the Bullets too.

No problem RI-SHO....! Mods are mods...although the V8 gents may not be able to do the same types of mods you have.

Sounds a lot like I would want to go to the Rhinos also, when I get around to it. I do not suppose you have any data on how much louder they are than OEM? I would like to have more rumble, certainly, but do not want to have serious noise messing with my sleeper ability.

New to the forum. Hello to all.

Mark turned me onto the Rhinos for my '98 and I couldn't be happier. Still civilized during normal driving - well kinda - but sounds like a beast AFT.

My mother-in-law came over yeaterday and I had my car warming up for a minute or so before going to work. She comes inside and says, "That car sure sounds like its powerful" A neophite when it comes to cars, even she can tell at idle it is NOT A stock grocery getter!

Nice it won't wake the neighbors when I come home at 11pm, but sounds throaty - definite V8 sound.

Cheers,
