No they y-pipe doesn't replace everything exhaust related. The y-pipe is attached to the engine via the exhaust manifolds. Then the 2 catalytic converters are on the y-pipe and the y-pipe ends at a spring ****** joint. hi-flow y-pipe Here's a picture of the y-pipe if you scroll down the page a bit. After the y-pipe is the rest of the exhaust called the cat-back because it includes everything back behind the catalytic converters. The cat-back is the majority of the exhaust piping including the resonator, and mufflers. ****** joint This on the left side is the ****** joint and you can see the first resonator I have which goes around the black shifter box. Second resonator And this is my second resonator further down the line before the exhaust goes over the suspension. Stock SHO's only have 1 resonator but I added a second one to eliminate the raspy noise that the hi-flow y-pipe creates. I hope this cleared things up a little for you.Jy94SHO:
I have a 94 ATX.
So basically, a Dynomax Cat-back just replaces certain parts of the exhaust system and not the WHOLE thing whereas a Hi-Flo Y Pipe would replace everything pertaining to the exhaust.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I just bought my SHO last week and it only has 73k miles on it and I want to add stuff to it.
Thanks.
