Hi all I just recently bought my 2015 sho a couple month ago at 180,000 (I know alot of miles) nothing was going wrong with it I've actually been pretty Impressed with it until Friday night a large raccoon darted in front of me and course some cosmetic damage but now in between 50 and 70 miles a hour there is noise coming from the front end of the engine I'm hoping to get some pointers on main troubleing areas that might have been affected. There are no leaks. I also went to fully accelerate last night and it sputtered and completely died all the light and everything was still working but the engine it's self sputtered to a stop. Any advise or questions to help me are welcomed thanks again for your time.

It detected something that was enough for it to save itself, have you thrown any codes yet?

No it hasn't shown even a check engine light during all this so I didn't think I would get any codes
Might give it some time unfortunately some codes take a few days before they pop up in the system.

And might throw in a code reader just for good measure, a code might have been thrown but it might be one of those that doesn't set off the check engine light.

Yeah driver side and no im not too familiar with the engine layout
So it's a transverse engine, engine is mostly on the passenger side, and then trans is next to it in the compartment, on the driver's side. With a stock intake you may have to take off the intake box to check the level but I'm not sure. I would check the engine oil level/quality first since it sounds like you haven't done that yet either.

This is a non-SHO taurus but the general idea is the same

Just based off the info I see isn't enough to call a dead trans. I honestly haven't heard of them going bad on these cars often(outside of the ptu I mean) at that mileage I would be checking bearings and filters first, along with what type of gas you have in there

Have you explored the possibility that a trim piece under the car may have dislodged a little? This might cause a wind noise. If the sound gets louder with speed, I would suspect that. Just a speculation on my part.

Possibly look at cover under engine, if one of the four bolts are not secure , it makes a bad rattle and wind noise. While driving you should notice some hood shake.
