It's a Ford produced concept, that is (a) not a reality yet, (b) likely funded by FMC and no one else, and (c) is being displayed by Ford (and not a gov. agency) at the SEMA trade show.

Where, in any of what's in the article or in Ford's press release, is there an implication of your tax dollars funding any part of this vehicle?

And furthermore, if this PI were a reality (though I doubt without the 22" wheels), so what? Police departments and federal agencies use a variety of vehicles for their undercover work; so what if this were one of them? What if it were a Charger SRT-8, or a Range Rover Sport instead? Or a Quattroporte? Would those be a problem, too? If so, I've got some bad news for you man...

He probably meant tax dollars are going to be used purchasing this car. Not building it. The Cvpi sticker was like 26k. This would be atleast 35k. Not that I mind but the money will come from somewhere.

The CVPI had an underpowered engine, underdeveloped frame and got poor mpgs.

The Taurus is a highly advanced car all around... Great handling, great acceleration, storage, AWD (very important for hazardous weather driving) and tons of extras that was specially designed to be used for LEO's to aid in efficiency for their daily routine. Add in the the cost of inflation and the price difference really isnt that great.

When I was working for a KC metro public works dept, I saw new CVPIs roll in to be retrofitted with all of the lights, sirens, computers, cameras, etc. The window stickers were still on the cars and they were never under 26k. In fact, I do believe they were closer to 28,500 IIRC. Granted it was a smaller town with fewer police cruisers so I doubt their fleet discount would be as drastic as a major city. But that will also be the case for the Taurus when it comes time for governments to purchase new cruisers.

Yea it was 28.5 you are right. As for the rest of it, I agree with you on all counts but the only thing the taxpayers will see is a car that costs more money.

Well thats life. ****, You cant even buy a base model F-150 (is there even such a thing anymore?) for much under 30k (if at all) these days. Vehicles have simply become more expensive.

Also, Who gives a flying ****, It's a show car. I didn't hear you whining when GM and Chrysler showed up at SEMA last year with a few cars. They are not going to build that exact model and you know it. So why complain and throw the topic off 100%

I would be an absolute idiot to post this stuff on the Forum. Considering my Job is information control regarding the movement of Cargo/passengers..etc.. I have a pretty good handle on what we move. Some of it in my opinion, Is absolutely a waste of of fuel or in most cases, a waste of a certain airframe (I.E., Using a C-17 to move a certain amount of cargo/passengers that would not have even begin to fill up a C-130).

It generally doesn't make sense by the time it gets to that level... Which is the reason why I took a job at a MAJCOM.

Either way, those pilots on any given plane have sorties to meet.

Thank you very much for telling me what position I can and cannot take. I suppose we should take all of the money out of National Defense, right? The dumb-ass comment was the one making reference to the jet fuel cost when you haven't any fracking clue about it. Feel free to be clueless on the issue, we prefer it that way.

I can and will take whatever position I want. If you don't like it... Then you don't like it. Buying the city faster cars to catch speeders for job security is perfectly fine, I got it. That's much better for using jet fuel for training the people who annihilate the people that want to cut your head off.
