We took our bone stock 2010 PP SHO with 25K on it to Alaska Dragway Park today. Best run was [email protected] MPH! And that was with a full tank, 200 # of junk in the trunk, and the a/c on! A lot of fun.

It was a test n tune, I was able to make two passes and the wife (it's her car) made one. She's already hooked! We were talking about getting some tunes on the way home. I have a K&N intake system in the garage for it now. Anyway, that's pretty amazing for a docile daily driver which I just took the studded tires off of the beginning of the month.

Hey Bob,

The 60 ft for the first and fastest run was 2.2157
The second run was 2.1709. It was faster all the way through the 1/8 mile, but slower at the top end? Don't know what was up with that. It was really windy and about 56 deg.
On the third run (wife's) it was 2.3379.

I wanted to post the time slips, but they are BARELY readable. Why can't they change that ink cartridge once in a while?

I haven't mentioned my reaction times yet out of embarrassment. What is a good one? Below .2 I assume? And when does the ET start, at the blink of the green or when the tire moves?

I think just by cleaning out the trunk and not having the tank full we could break 100 mph.

R/T is totally unrelated to ET. For T-N-T, who cares about R/T??

Anyway, R/T is the time between the green coming on, and the Stage light going off.

When the Stage light goes off, your ET starts. You could sit at the line for a minute after the green comes on, and still turn a 13.9x time.

Mainly matters in Bracket racing, or running someone. First one to cross the finish wins. Buddy of mine raced his son. NAILED him on r/t, missed a gear, turned a slower ET, and still got the Win light.

A good R/T is .001. Or .501 on a half-second tree (which shows exactly how much you left early if you redlight).

Oh, ok thanks. RT didn't matter a bit then, except for practice. There were no side by side runs, someone said because there was no car inspection. Although the red light still applied. I saw a vette leave early, then stop (hoping for a reset, I guess) but he was waved on. No second chance, I guess.

Yeah, he was COMPLETELY flustered after that. Spun through first and second and totally bogged in third.

There was also a guy in a GT500 who (twice!) rolled clear through the stage lights till they went off and then sat there revving the engine waiting to go until the track guy backed him up.

I guess folks up there don't do the dragstrip much!!

Hint to the Vette & GT500 drivers. Bog in 1st, then go.....

Guy with a GT500 on street tires a few weeks ago would walk it out, then go on to 11.8 - 12.1 ETs at 125-130.

After watching him do that, those new Nitto Invo tires are now on my list......

When I was running my old stock Gen 3 on it's way to the 14s, I would shallow-stage and just rev to about 1200-1500 to get the slop out of the drivetrain. Got a few 2.0x 60' times that way.

Ron is right... but your 60' is pretty slow. All of mine, from my first ever run have been better than your 60's. A strong 60' cuts your ET by more than the difference. So if you did a 2.0, you can subtract at least the difference in yours and that, from the 1/4 mi ET.

You want to creep forward, light the first lights, and then go even slower, till the second set lights. Power Brake to about 1500-1800 RPM, and when you see the green.. both floor it and let off brake quickly... Don't worry about your Reaction Time... just keep it floored and see how well you do. You don't even have to remove T/C as SHO works equally well both with or without T/C (within reason).

The first time ever at the strip, I got a 13.521 with my Flex and Torries boosted tune. 3 of 4 runs were 60' et's of under 2.0... the only one over was with T/C disabled!

Note: I have only been drag racing since Oct 2010.... and I'm now 66 yrs old!

Good Luck!!!! & have fun!!!! IT'S ADDICTIVE!!!!!

The "rule of thumb" is that every 0.10 off the 60' is 0.2 in ET.

But, I have seen that not be true many times, same as 100 #s out of the car is worth 0.10 in ET.

YMMV!!

I've been running at the strip since 1969, and I turned 62 last Tuesday.

BUT....I did my first road course in 1996.

Yeah, I still like drag racing, but given my choice, I would rather do a track.

Road courses are ADDICTING!!
