blue smoke could mean that you have a bad ring(s) or that you're just simply burning oil.

how many miles are on your SHO?.....does it smoke at WOT or just on startup?? I would try some lucas oil stabalizer. I have seen great effects from this stuff. It really does work.

Your car burns oil. Don't put any SUCKER/FOOL oil additives in the crankcase as suggested. If you don't know why, you better find out.

I know you guys are deperate now that you find out your SHO 100,000 mi motors are oil burning 8000 rpm, 150 mph phenomenon's. But don't waste any money on additives that wont help anyways. It lowers the oils viscocity value, I won't argue this fact further. I don't give a rats ass what the salesman believes. Lets here your lucas pitch! I like to spin the plastic gears while waiting in line at NAPA!

You mean to tell me that you added a container of Sucker/Fool-bearing,ring and valve job in a can- restored an engine? Jesus,Mary and Joseph I was sadly mistaken, I'm just plane wrong. Lowering the oils viscosity from 5/30W down to 5/20W in a 8000 rpm engine isn't all bad, Its true then-an engine can be restored using this crap. I'v used bad judgement. Why I wasted my money replacing worn out parts & machinists & labor, I'll never know why. Look at who's the Big FOOL now!! I was down at the farm store and the containers say right on them "restores Rings & valves", another claimed "less friction" and yet another will "renew your seals" so who needs gaskets! One that claimed to add 3-4 inches. And all you need to do is pour it in or maybe on depending on the product. I am kicking myself in the ass. Unbelievable, Have I apologized for douting? Lets say a prayer for the rebuilders that will be out of work. Lets also pray for the suckers who will still use engine rebuilders to fix their 150000mi oil blowing motors. It just occurred to me maybe a reason why new vehicle manufacturers will void a warranty for using oil additives/modifiers or just using the incorrect weight oil. Think about it. I stand corrected.

Sir,
I don't think BeatdaSHO was claiming miracles, he was just stating that using this stuff in a motor that used a great deal of oil has slowed oil consumption and blue smoke a great deal. It doesn't lower viscosity either. It raises it. Using 5W20 over 5W30 is thinner oil. It blows by the rings easier. Why do you think Sdpatt states to use a higher viscosity oil for fighting start up valve clatter? It's thicker oil that may fight some engine knock. Of course a complete rebuild is the only way to truly stop a car from burning oil, but do you think your everyday mechanic has that kind of spare money sitting around? This motor isn't a Chevy 350 that costs peanuts to rebuild either. We're talking big bucks! And for a measly 8 dollars to stop the majority of oil smoke and burning, heck, why not?

Originally posted by DougLee25: A very short term band aid if in fact the improvement was more than phsycological. At the same time the engine is being deprived of proper oil system metering. In other words, the shit gunks up the rings good enough for marginal(short term)improved sealing, maybe, but leaves the bearings and cams with less than recomended lubrication. Additives are oil modifiers and modifiers change the oil. Why change the oil recomended by the designers. I have little but some general knowledge about how or why engineers do these things.... You add a quart of **** to four quarts of good clean oil, the good clean oil becomes 20% ****. Get it? Your oil has been diluded by 20% and is now **** oil. Let me emphasise the 20%part. Did I say 20%? Yes 20 %. 20% **** oil that is. Oil anaylisis would reveal 20% ****. Thats a big piece of pie. I hope my expination has'nt been too technical. Rebuttle anyone?

Hey guys, it's not all about who's right. If someone wants to use a oil additive, let them. No need to prove your right over trivial matters. Let's act like sho owners and give advice, not argue over it.
