Ok GLSS'ers, it's been fairly quiet around here, national convention not withstanding. I take full responsibility; I haven't been making our group the priority that it should be and that's all about to change. Gas prices have dropped at little around here, so how about we close out 2007 with a blast?

Here's what I have in mind thus far, and I'd love some discussion:

Woodward dream cruise, August 18th (and the week leading up to it) Detroit MI

Romeo Peach Festival & car show, Labor day weekend as suggested by Kate, Romeo MI (Detroit area)

Meet @ Willie's, mid-late September (Lima OH)

Maumee Bay mid-late October (Maumee Bay OH)

CHRISTMAS DINNER, Quaker Steak & **** in OH.

This is a tentative schedule... thoughts?

And the GLSS covers what three-state area . . . ?

Wasn't it OH, MI, IN (looks for the BBB-code for strike-through font....)

Well, I guess it looks like the GLSS NEEDS to have an Indiana group event . . . . :ohreally:

I mean, it's not like there isn't a place or two to go to. A track or two to visit. A downtown or two to cruise. ****, even the Toll Road (that that greedy bastard in the Indy statehouse leased to some damn Australian company) runs through *that* state . . . .

Besides, Chuck has a SHO again, so it's time to real him back in . . . . :thumb:

I like how this guy thinks! :thumb: As I've said many times, my area is about as central as it gets for GLSS. What part of Indiana are you from anywho?

Seriously, I want the Christmas Dinner down there this year.

As for Labor Day, I've graciously asked a few other prominent GLSS'ers to finalize the plans for the event. After the convention, then Indy, then the last few days at work Michelle and I have come to the conclusion that I REALLY need a vacation away from this stuff, so my Labor Day will be spent up north at Kneff Lake.

My apologies on this, I'm just beyond burnt on cars right now and I still have Woodward to plan for.

Rest assured, there still will be a great Labor Day meet, look for details coming soon. And my offer STILL stands for anyone wanting a little getaway for Labor Day; I'll have a site at Kneff up north and I welcome anyone for the day or the duration. I'm planning to be up there from Friday-Monday, perhaps even until Tuesday. Just don't ask me to wheel your car or do a 60k :)

After my vacation, I'm looking forward to getting things squared away with Willie for his Lima OH meet. There will also be Lapeer in October and Christmas dinner in Ft Wayne. Near term there is the Metro cruise in GR and of course Woodward.

If anyone wants info on kneff please LMK. I can either pm info, or if there's enough interest I'll make a general post about it.

Thanks all for understanding :)

We'll be at Woodward on the 18th, no SHO though, I'll keep my eye's open for you. Hopefully we'll make the Metro Cruise with the SHO as long as I get a tire. Should we all plan on meeting at the Pizza hut that we ate lunch at last time? Maybe I'll just star a new post.....

Kneff is about 3 hours north of Detroit, approx. 15 east of Grayling and a hour south of the Mac Bridge. Here are a few pics of the sites and the lake:

All you see in those two pics are part of one campsite. They're that big.

Jim, what kind of cost is there to get into Maumee Bay for the day? Perhaps just a day meet at Maumee for Labor Day if there's interest, but I'm definitely going north.

As far as I know there is no cost... the beach itself is a public beach the last time I went... the only cost is camping, the hotel and the cabins. I will have to make sure that has not changed but if we were to go for a say a picnic and to relax or whatnot there shouldn't be any cost involved. There are also some nice trails through the woods to walk there as well.

I wish we could do another Muncie drag meet. THAT was fun!

I'd definitely be up for that! That's the track I normally go to. I need to get my SHO out there and see what it'll do anyways. But other than that I can't do much right away till I get some medical bills paid off. I had a stint in the hospital with a bad infection in my foot a month or so ago. So money is tight.
