I don't know took car to local autoparts the plugged it in and told me this was the error I also found this error nimber somewhere else and it said thereis a problem with theintake manifold runner cotrol would know where this is and how to repair it? thanks gerry
Intake runner fault-stuck open. Try the GenIII section with the V-8 guys. Most of us are GenI and II EEC-IV engine control systems. You need EEC-V from '96 and up.
Sorry, I just re-read your message and realized you're not talking about a SHO, and the error code you got is an OBD-II code. The Ford PC/ED manual shows DTC P1518 as '(DTC) P1518 indicates the IMRC monitor circuit voltage is less than expected'.
This is what the PC/ED lists for possible causes:
- IMRC monitor signal circuit shorted to PWR GND or SIG RTN.
- Damaged IMRC actuator.
- Damaged PCM.
Since this is a SHO-dedicated forum, there's probably not too many people who can help you specifically. Off the cuff, I'd say you need to verify electrical and vacuum routing to the IMRC. Unfortunately, I can't even tell you where the IMRC is located on your motor! One place which might be able to help you a little better is http://www.tauruscarclub.com/
