Guess you guys have heard or read about this new proposal by the all knowing EPA...ha.

Here is the petition to try and get it revoked.

If this passes, it will have a huge impact on companies selling us these products.

Interesting but since they have no right to inspect and race tracks can ban them from the premises it seems like one of those things where enforcement is not feasible. They will also need funding from congress to staff for this. This is one of those tiny administrative changes that everyone makes a big deal about. I'll worry about it once the EPA tries to enforce it.

My guess is that this is not about removing cars from tracks. This is the way the government has found to make it illegal to sell items like catless downpipe. Right now those are sold for off-road use only (ie, racecar). If it's illegal to make your production car a racecar, they will make the sale illegal.

For a few generations it has been illegal to modify a vehicle in places like Germany.
The "hot-rod" is a North American phenomina.
Germany, with a reputation of strong engineering and regulatory prowess, have set standards that a lot of places like to follow.

However, the VW emission scandal has exposed this "Gold Standard" as a scam, and their engineering and requlatory prowess is now centered on saving a mortally wounded car and banking company.

For a few moments, the American EPA looked pretty good.

But now this!
