Check Engine Light + Hesitation :(

Ok my sho is starting to **** me off.

While I am driving around the check engine light will come on for a few seconds, if I hit the gas while the light is on the car will hesitate and the kinda buck as it recovers. The car will pretty much only do this while the light is on but every now and then it will do this when the light is off and I hit the gas. I know I should run the codes but I dont have the $$$ or access to a code scanner.

Does anyone have an idea what this could be?

Autozone will scan your codes for FREE, so money shouldn't be an issue for that. Otherwise, I guess there is a way to read the codes without a scanner.
