ANybody know what the dimensions on one of those are? I plan on making my own SFCs and STBs after the first of the year why not an H brace too

Ditto message above. I bought the H-Brace also and I could have made it myself but not worth the trouble.

Looking at the pic it looks kinda heavy. there's alot of excess materal on it that could be removed to reduce weight.

But could you remove the weight and still maintain the stability/strength of the brace?

I can't imagine this unit weighing a whole lot, and I'm no engineer, but just from looking at it, if you were to start cutting chunks of it out, I'd imagine you'd completely alter the bracing-ability.

If you're concerned about weight, get someone to fab a solid aluminum or titanium brace. That might be cool.

There is alot of steel on there. Although I don't think you'd want to go sawing pieces off her and there, there a few places where you could drill some rather larghe holes in it and still have it provide structural stability. Only about 1/2 (if that) of the metal of it actually is needed to provide its desired rigidity while the rest is just wasted weight.

Again, I'll state that I'm no engineer, but drilling holes in a load-bearing source to make it lighter doesn't sound like a great idea.

But hey, the great thing about this is, if you want one, you can do it, if you want.

Go for it!

I just welded my control box. It is made of like 20 different pieces of metal spot welded together. I took the welder and ran a bead along the seams. I'm still going to make an H brace but it is really sturdy now.
